How long must we endure this ignorant woman playing the race card. What proof does she have?
I wonder if she has researched how many black firefighters there are in the LFB. I believe the LFB deserve an apology. Probably a good proportion of the brave firefighters were black in any case as there was a black only recruitment drive for some years. A disgusting slur.

Very ... indeed.
I think the LFB should sue her for slander.
She should be spending her time addressing the black on black knife crime.
// "any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person". //

It's exactly the same kind of stupid knee jerk over-reaction to historic failure that led the police to describe Carl Beech's paedo stories as 'credible and true', when they were neither.

We don't need blanket assumptions of racism/non-racism/truth/lying to be imposed. We just need people to establish the facts of a situation by doing their 'kin job properly in the first place. That'd be a good place to start.
I saw the interview and found her views sad and pathetic. She's tarnished her reputation and is therefore in danger of making otherwise-sympathetic people think less of her past actions.
I had my old bike stolen, so I am a victim of crime, so I look forward to the ermine to pontificate on legislation.

You lot would have to bend the knee and tug the forelock :-)

3.8 % - about 1500 country wide
95% men - fire services

those who say they are not anglo saxon is around 15% so that is a quarter of what might be expected as firemen

as for firemen running away from a point of ignition: Manchester arena ( two miles for two hours)

so if the public services are not as you want:
you speak out.

on a lighter note
what happened to all these anonymous heroes ?
welll this, for one thing

Drug dealer fireman Simon Ford to give 7/7 evidence via prison video link. Former fireman Simon Ford, who was hailed a hero for his part in the 7/7 bombings rescue effort, will give evidence to the inquest direct from prison via video link.

Simon Ford, 41, was convicted for his part in a £100million cocaine ring (PA). The 41-year-old, who was arrested in 2008, was convicted and jailed for 14 years for his part in a £100million cocaine ring in south-east England.

However, in 2005 Ford was honoured for risking his life during the London terrorist attacks, which killed 63 people, when he boarded the bus blown up in Tavistock Square to rescue survivors. He will appear before the inquest today to give information about his experiences on the day of the attacks.

Tavistockk sq - the transport police dont cover themselves in gloire.
as for gallant policemen running towards a point of trouble:
here are some running away
"Two policemen at the inquest into the 7 July 2005 bomb victims spoke yesterday of their frustration at leaving the scene of the bus explosion and being "locked down" inside the nearby British Transport police HQ, because it was feared that the building could also be a target"

it was David Davis who insisted that all the rosy initial reports of how well the services had done in 2005 - "all in all the day went quite well," etc etc -
would have to be rewritten to reflect what actually happened.

back to grenfell - with round 100 dead
you don't really expect people to seriously say - o how well we did! the system is meant to work like that !

[oh, ..... you do]

I am unaware what your former calling was PP. I suspect law or medical jurisprudence.
We can all cite rotten apples who fall short of their duties and responsibilities, none more so, in the legal profession. ‘Shyster lawyers’? and murderous Shipmans?
There was plenty of smoke from the fire at Grenfell but no evidence of racism that I am aware apart from a pernicious allegation from a racist herself.
So sad you forget the heroism of firefighters killed in the line of duty though. Not many of your ilk do that do they?

what an appalling claim, heaven help us - this woman needs to apologise and now.
If my house is on fire and I'm trapped in it I wouldn't care what gender, colour, race or creed the firefighters were and I doubt that any of my attributes would be of any interest to them. I'd just be grateful that they would use their skills (whilst putting their own safety on the line) to get me out and save as much of my property as possible.

I'm afraid PP's denigration of the fire service by citing one or two individuals who took the wrong path in life does him no favours. I am immensely proud of our fire service and can count a few of their number among my friends. In 1987 I worked a few doors away from London's Soho Fire Station in Shaftesbury Avenue and one or two of the firefighters were our after work drinking buddies. Their Station Officer, Colin Townsley, was killed in the disaster, having been last seen at the top of a blazing escalator guiding people to safety. He'd entered the burning Underground Station as everybody else was fleeing for their lives. A few local employers sent representatives to Mr Townsley's funeral and I was pleased to be among those attending. Station Officer Townsley was posthumously awarded the George Medal, and very deservedly so. The report into that tragedy produced a number of recommendations (the most significant was that which led to a complete ban on smoking on the London Underground) and was somewhat more useful and relevant than the preposterous Macpherson report.

So I don't really take too kindly to criticism of members of the London Fire Brigade. I didn't like Peter's remarks. The system may not have worked too well but that was not the fault of individual firefighters. As for the Lawrence creature's outpourings, words fail me.

Excellent post NJ. I concur.
It's a 21st century creation "victimhood". Harry Dunn's family are the latest exponents.
^I know!
What is it with these flaky parents....trying to get justice for their murdered children!?!

As far as I am aware there is no evidence of murder by the actions or alleged inaction of the LFB. If we wish to talk of justice for murdered children then It may be better if Baroness Lawrence approached her own black community and ask what the mothers are doing to stop their own children murdering other members of the community.Plenty of black kids getting murdered around the UK and who are the assassins for the most part? Not the LFB
Your teenage son goes out on a motorbike - good chance he'll have a serious accident eventually. Another motorist drives carelessly & it happens. If the at-fault driver hadn't fled abroad it would almost be a non-news event.
I was addressing davebro, retrocop.
Quite staggering.
