Yes glad you agree Tora. He had no choice but I’m amazed the government even tried.
Now presumably the government will introduce the bill, as they said they would, and get on with it.
Did they debate it Saturday? I thought it was taken off when the Ben amendment got nodded through.

In any case what happens if they don’t approve this deal and the EU don’t agree to an extension?
Considering they’ve done it once already, how many days would it take to get a court order to stop another proroguing of parliament lol
Bernard Jenkins has protested that circumstances have changed since Saturday, because he claims the Letwin amendment was motivated purely by a concern that Boris Johnson would not send his letter. But that doesn’t make sense: the concern was not that: the letter was only sent because the amendment was passed.
So he’s wrong.
I guess he must be hoping for no-deal then.

Fancy rejecting it knowing it wasn't held Saturday. The aim has to be to never vote on it then. Thus no-deal.
I can understand not wishing to debate it again as it already has been. But the vote didn't happen and is the bit still outstanding.

How can something pass into law before it has been approved ? Sounds like Catch 22.
Most bills don’t have confirmatory votes.
I too am glad to see Bercow supported by TTT. IN answer to OG, Bercow has specifically said that, of course, the Government can introduce legislation to implement the bill, which it will do later today. There is no suggestion of No Deal. It's simply stating that the House has expressed its will already on the Deal: it is reserving judgement until legislation implementing it has been introduced (and also passed).
The oddity surely would have been to allow a vote on something which had previously been tabled but amended such that it couldn’t be voted on yet!
Reserving judgement doesn't sound much like expressing opinion on the deal. As I understand it the vote was deliberately uncounted was it not, and so the House's will is still unknown. Have to see what's tabled this afternoon then I suppose. Seems all very strange. Legislation should just mirror the draft deal anyway or it won't be what was agreed.
If Letwin had not tabled his amendment there is a very good chance the deal would have been voted down.
And then the letter would have had to be sent anyway.
Arguably Oliver Letwin had saved Johnson’s skin.
Time will tell.
Twists and turns. It would be funny except they are playing with the fuyure of everyone in the UK and the EU members.

All this is helping no-one.
