i'm wondering who called the paramedics who then informed the police. Saw the initial newsflash that said paramedics had contacted the police at 01.40hrs so why were the paramedics there? Apologies if have missed something about this. Always the possibility it was an innocent driver who had only picked up the container a couple of hours previously but someone got the emergency services there in the middle of the night.
The man who came to collect the lorry was the guy who has been arrested, Naomi. Apparently he had been at the wheel for 2 hours then needed to check the paperwork which was in a 'pocket' on the inside of the door. That's when he discovered the bodies. He rang the ambulance who contacted the police. All this is hearsay, of course, as it's apparently what one of his friends told a reporter.
He has been released without charge 30 minutes ago

I take it when the trot out 'named locally as', truth seeking journalists can consider themselves absolved of any guilt in punting identities about the place, nodding gravely in the appropriate manner.
If only there wasn't such a desperate rush to be first then people might not have their lives disrupted by these creatures.
I expect better from the BBC as they just take the telly tax and don't even have to bother about advertising income.
Doubtless the wagons will circle as usual though and it'll all be quietly forgotten. Good luck to your man if he seeks compensation but I doubt he'll have much chance past 'lessons will be learned'.
