I thought the Irish blood was all about honour?

Seems he has none.

A UFC fighter worth 85 million punched a man in the face in a bar, who was in his fifties, simply because he refused a drink from the professional UFC fighter.

He's been ordered to pay £860 and has avoided jail, even though his punches could be fatal to the average Joe.

Since the incident at Bellator 187 in 2017 he has lurched from one outburst to another and if he doesn't get this in check now he will lose everything he has worked for - worse than that, someone could die.

I don't think you can judge a race of people just because one of them is an A hole.
Precisely.

Melv, I'm not. But when you represent your country by fighting and hold up the flag with pride, then you are doing exsactly that if the country supports you or not.

It's ab it like being in the town (not at school) whilst in school uniform. You're stil representing the school.

He represents his country, if they want it or not.

Oh i thought you meant the law being lenient on celebs, Sorry zacs.

Acceptance? Seems a sensible point Andy is making.
Spath, totally pointless you getting het up about something that’s beyond your control, yes think it’s an injustice but really annoyed?
Question Author
"Acceptance? Seems a sensible point Andy is making."

That's not a stance i'm with. So it's fine to oppose it.
Spath, Conor's problem is more to do with hid inability to control hid own anger rather than his Nationality, blood ties or honour.
* his inability
But you didn't 'oppose' it. You took it to mean something completely different.

Of course, I completely understand that Mamy. This certainly is not blaming the Irish, and maybe i was silly to bring his nationality into it.

It's just always what he's doing! So i thought, surely he wouldn't want to tarnish the Irish with his egotistical actions

"You took it to mean something completely different."

No I don't think I did. Andy was coming from a stance of "No, this is ok and the fines and punishments are according to laws" I'm coming from a stance, No this is not OK, he should be punished more.

Sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick, but I don't feel I did. Maybe I did, who knows.. it's not important.
It obviously is important to you.

Andy pointed out the nature of the law and pointed out that there is no vehicle for applying different punishment for individuals. That is not the same as saying the punishment is adequate.
spath - // Andy, am I not even allowed to be annoyed at the fact this punishment seems weak? //

You can be as annoyed as you like, you don't need my permission for that!!

// It seems you're implying the punishment was adequate and everything is now settled and fine. //

Not at all - what I am saying, rather than implying, is that the law has to be fairly applied to everyone for it to work effectively and fairly, and that individual circumstances cannot be brought into the issue for the reasons I have outlined.

I neither made, or implied any view on the strength of the punishment, but since you feel it is an issue, my view is that it was appears to be excessively lenient but it is decided by people who not only know the law far better than either of us, but also have access to far more evidential detail than that supplied in a grainy video from yards away.
I can reel off a list of names of sportsmen who have represented our country and have been in trouble with the law.

“ and that individual circumstances cannot be brought into the issue for the reasons I have outlined. “

The UFC could take further action.
They could, but you were (at 16:27) clearly talking about the law.
Question Author
It seems connor paid an undisclosed sum of money to the man he punched. I wonder if this had an affect on his punishment?

Maybe the compensation lead to the man dropping charges.
spath - // “ and that individual circumstances cannot be brought into the issue for the reasons I have outlined. “

The UFC could take further action. //

They could, but on the basis that organisations like this are not in the business of killing golden geese for moral (and therefore unprofitable) reasons, means that they won't.

And to be sure, before you assume anything else - I don't think that is right any more than you do, but it is the way it is.
