The question now is not whether Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour party is fit to govern, but whether it is fit to contest an election.

These are truly extraordinary times. I can remember a number of occasions when major political parties simply fell apart – most commonly after a spectacular defeat – but never before in the opening days of a general election campaign.

It is impossible to exaggerate the political significance, not to say the emotional impact, of lifelong Labour stalwarts actually advising their supporters to vote Conservative: to commit, in effect, what would once have been seen as mortal sin.

This is not just a campaign mishap. It is a historic milestone in our national politics. The major Opposition party is no longer functional. The governing party – whatever your view of it – is the only credible one that can be supported.

Is anyone planning to vote Labour & if so, why?

Wishful thinking LOL
Gromit - “Wishful thinking LOL”

So says the person who is indulging in wishful thinking.

The Labour Party are not only a disgrace to their voter base, they are a disgrace to the very ideology that was their genesis: the working man.

They used to represent and support the working man. They no longer do. They now represent no one but those who leech off society. People with jobs, who pay taxes, increasingly vote for parties other than Labour. Labour used to be the party of the average working man. No more. They are now the party of the non-worker. They are the party of the open hand, waiting for 'free money'. The Karate Party if you will.

I used to vote Labour. I helped to put Tony Blair in power. Shame on me. Never again will I be hoodwinked by charlatan politicians who are economically incompetent and morally bankrupt. John McDonald (the current shadow Chancellor) has been sacked by the GLC twice for financial incompetence and yet Corbyn sees fit to put him in charge of the UK's finances.

You can LOL if you want Gromit – and I defend your right to do so – but you can be guaranteed that the British public will never vote in a Labour government under the present anti-Semitic, intolerant, toxic leadership.
I feel that this election will give Labour its biggest defeat since 1983.
Jackdaw33

I sincerely hope so.
i wouldn't vote Labour if they were the only party, their leader is incompetent and those backing him are toxic
Talk about melt down , if ever Labour did get in, the news section on A/B would be On Fire, smoke coming out of their computers the population would be reduced by so many heart attacks. LOL.
Gulliver - maybe those who survived could start their own website on which to promote their right-wing views?
gromit, for a non Labour supporter you don't arf support them a lot, you sure you're not a storm trooper?
birdie - I could have written your fifth para. at 01:29, especially the beginning of it. I too hang my head in shame as it was a grave mistake, but of course I didn't think that at the time. Anyone who now votes for the vile Mr Corbyn, is, in my opinion, totally out of touch with reality.
emmie; "i wouldn't vote Labour if they were the only party, their leader is incompetent and those backing him are toxic " - think what you are looking for is our latest AB abbreviation: CDI (Certifiable Dribbling Imbecile)
yep BA for birdy.
birdy; "I used to vote Labour. I helped to put Tony Blair in power" - birdy, don't beat yourself up, it's widely accepted that New Labour nicked the Tories clothes and don't really count as a true "Labour" government, though they had thumper as a token lefty. In any case they are far cry from the anti semitic, bullying terrorist loving thugs that you creatively label the Karate party.
Boris might just as well
go on holiday for the next month and let Labour do his campaigning for him/
//Is anyone planning to vote Labour & if so, why? //

As far as I can see only one person has answered the question - and he'll vote Labour because his local candidate is his mate.

No reasons given by the known Labour supporters here. Perhaps they don't know why they're voting Labour.
i think with the amount of leaping to Labour's defence gromit is doing he's probably a secret Labour voter, and of course Itchy and Scratchy are clearly radio enough.
Tora, Birdie Jackdaw,

I predict a small gain for Labour, not a meltdown. This is not because I support Labour or want Corbyn as PM, but because I see evidence to support a small gain, and a small lose for the Conservatives.
Labour will not win the election. But the Conservatives won’t get a big majority either. We are headed for an hung parliament again. The Conservatives have had a shaky start to electioneering, you should be more concerned about them under-performing that would result in a SNP/LibDem/Labour coalition.
Gromit, in your predictions have you taken into account that the Tories have gone into negotiations with Nigel Farage in the last few days.
Have they, danny? I didn't know that.

Neither did I, but forget the bluster, if there wasn't a bit of quiet off piste talking going on, they would both be crazy.
^^ Agree completely, Khandro.
