So, if democracy isn't working, what then? The alternatives are pretty dire. People went back to voting on party lines in 2017, secure in the knowledge that all (bar Lib. Dems.) had promised to respect the Referendum result and that Brexit would immutably follow.

We have been sadly disillusioned.

I am very seriously considering voting for the Yorkshire Party - I like the policies contained in their leaflet - apart from the over-emphasis on 'green' issues and fracking - so shall dig and find out more, probably even phone and ask for clarification. If Brexit doesn't happen cleanly and clearly by the end of 2020; then I see no point in ever voting again.
^^^ No Brexit Party in my area.
jourdain //Yorkshire Party//
?
danny…. I'm in E. Yorkshire (Sir Greg Knight Tory M.P.). Our local Yorkshire Party candidate, Tim Norman, is from Bridlington. YorkshireParty.org.uk/manifesto . Facebook: /voteyorkshire
email: [email protected]
My M.P. is rock-solid, by the way. Hope this helps. :)
I have come to the conclusion that the only way to achieve Brexit in any shape or form, due at the end of January, not the end of the year, is to vote Tory in the hope that Boris gets a decent majority purged of Remainers and traitors.
jack i tend to agree, my vote goes to the Tories at any rate.
jourdain, I don't think we a Yorkshire Party candidate here in Bradford.
Farage's pledge to scrap the Licence fee for the bloated and biased BBC is the game changer. That gets my vote all day long. If Boris promised it he would have a 100+majority.
Do you have a Brexit candidate, Togo?
I wish I did.
Togo //If Boris promised it he would have a 100+majority.//
I think he has promised that.
Togo, re TV licence.I don't think the PM has the power to actually scrap it.First the government would have to take the responsiblity for it from the BBC.
No Bigbad withdrawn. So I will do the same. I wrote to the odious David Jones, when he voted down Brexit persistently, and told him that he would never get my vote again. He said that he would not be standing in the GE, but like the liar he is , has gone back on his word yet again.
My current Conservative MP is standing down. I wrote to him when he claimed to be a Brexiteer, but voted for Mrs May’s crap deal. I’m still waiting for a reply.
Strong Conservative area.

I’ll be moving house a couple of days after the election, and funnily enough, the current Conservative MP is also standing down. Another strong Conservative area.

I’ve just noticed a new candidate has been added to the constituency I’ll be going to: The Universal Good Party.
No, me neither!

Perhaps Chuka Umunna and Luciana Berger can defect to them next.
I see from reports that 50% of their members are standing as candidates.
Chukkabutty is toast. I cannot understand why politicians in safe seats should sacrifice their careers because of their slavish devotion to the EU.
From Wiki

"In the 2016 EU referendum, Streatham voted to remain in the European Union by 79%. This was the highest remain vote in the United Kingdom, besides Gibraltar."

As he is in the Lib Dems now, why is his seat at risk?
It is a common misapprention that all who voted Remain will now vote LD.
^^^ misapprehension
// politicians in safe seats should sacrifice their careers because of their slavish devotion to XXXX //

principles - oh heavens do we have THOSE in this election, well they are well hidden if we do !

In the Crown - in the suez crisis, they have the MP as an Arabist who absolutely screws his career when he calls out Eden in cabinet and says invading Sues was the stupidest thing he cd do ! ( before he did it that is !)

( he is an adviser to the prog - and wrote a book about it and then had to become like us - dosser or check out cashier.....) "Group think" is meant to be broken by one dissentient voice but it clearly didnt work this time
