Douglas9401 I live in the south and will reiterate..not hugely important...I am amused to see that people are crowdfunding to repair a church on one of her estates...I am sure she could afford a couple of £100,000 if she tried hard enough!

They do indeed, but you are surely not suggesting that this would change if there were no royal family... Not even the dumbest American tourist believes there's any chance of meeting the queen.

According to travelandleisure.com, of the 25 most visited attractions in Europe, Britain's first entry is The British Museum at number 13. No royal palaces feature at all.

I remember standing up at the cinema when they played God save the Queen. No one bothers nowadays.
She is the last Royal that I would take my hat off to, if I had a hat. Bless her.
