Glad about your sister, 237so.
so am I...
Some very heroic actions by ordinary people whose lives were disrupted whilst going about there every day business and not expecting to face this traumatic experience. Unarmed they tackled this terrorist and one had the presence of mind to remove the lethal weapon away from the perpetrator whilst another grappled him on the ground.Well done the ARV team who dragged the civilian off the terrorist when they saw what appeared to be a explosive vest. They put themselves in potential harms way to rescue the civilian before slotting the scum on the floor.
The New Year approaches. I hope suitable recognition is considered to the 'ordinary joes' in the capital rather than rewarding over paid prima donnas in the sporting world and luvvies in the arts.
I also hope that these heroes do not suffer any after effects for their heroic deeds.
retro, i couldn't agree more.
There are some real heros about which is nice to see. I think in this day and age, people, passengers etc will challenge these nutters when they can see how the situation could pan out.

Manchester - a cup of tea near the Queen and a palace biccy. - and alot of- "they were paid to do that werent they"
Yet another Islamic terrorist freed from prison has slipped under MI5 radar, to commit this ‘lone shark’?, crime.
There had better be NO repercussions against the Police for taking this Misguided Religious misfit out, or next time the boys in blue might think again.
If he hadn’t had an dummy IED round his waist, he might have been spared unfortunately.

To whom were you referring to by the statement below that you wrote?

//and alot of- "they were paid to do that werent they" //
I've just read there are 2 dead. In addition to the perpetrator.

How awful. RIP to the innocents.
it seems the attacker had just been released from prison for terror-related offences and was still wearing a tag.

How are these tags supposed to work?

//How are these tags supposed to work? //

It would seem not very effectively. Perhaps a noose of sisal around the neck in the first place may have prevented the loss of two innocent lives.
The tags normally work by triggering an alarm if they leave a particular address normally after a particular time. But doesn't stop them leaving.

I think a tag for a convict like this is a ridiculous idea.
//But speaking at a meeting of the Government’s emergency Cobra committee Prime Minister Boris Johnson hinted the suspect had previously been convicted of terror offences. He said he had ‘long argued’ it was a ‘mistake to allow serious and violent criminals to come out of prison early’. Johnson added: ‘It is very important that we get out of that habit and that we enforce the appropriate sentences for dangerous criminals, especially for terrorists, that I think the public will want to see.’ A maintenance worker who witnessed today’s attack, which left three injured, claims he was told the assailant had been in prison for terrorism offences.//

Tags don't always work. I lived with someone on tag and he never set the alarm off when he didn't come home on time.

They do make random calls and visits though.
Contrary to the belief. They can also be removed by the those who wear them but not in this case it would seem.
he was at a conference about rehabilitating offenders; so some of the guys who grabbed him were ex-prisoners - one had been in jail with him.

The white rod being carried by one of the men who subdued him was a narwhal tusk.

but he wasn't let out early - he had served half his determinate sentence and was eligible for automatic release.

Mushroom, for whatever reason a prisoner is set free without completing the terr he was sentenced for is early release.
