Documents appear to show Boris Johnson misled the public over the nature of his new Brexit deal with the EU.

Love me some Irish customs checks. Isn't that fantastic? Keep Britain British. Check absolutely every possible back door for any contraband or illegals.

I love the way people say 'Boris said such and such' as if that serves as proof of anything. It's hilarious.

Why doesn't he hand the documents over to the newspaper so they can be properly scrutinised?

I couldn't possibly know, Naomi24.

At least this has come to light before the election. I'm not worried about stronger boarders I'm worried about what kind of food regulations are relaxed or implemented.
Impossible to comment until we know what's in it. If Corbyn has something on Boris he should put his money where his mouth is and allow the documents to be properly examined.

You recently commented on a thread called "Corbyn Blood Libel". The material for this thread and discussion was not only from the Daily Mail (unreliable and just petty journalism) but what the article stated was that Corbyn had been "accused" of certain acts, there was no proof or even evidence of guilt, yet you jumped on this story and said your comments.

Now this info has come to light and it has been described as "cold hard evidence", you want to wait until a news paper warps it? Right oh... I guess if that's the kind of reputation you wish to have, that's fine by me.

"yet you jumped on this story and said your comments. - As if the allegations were true, may I add".
The papers are looking at the document so it may be one of them will publish it and we can read what all it says.
Only Spath spells border as boarder. Gotcha!
TD. I said it's impossible to comment until the contents have been scrutinised.

Thanks mushroom.
well when he gets a big majority next week he'll do a better deal anyway.
Question Author
ToraToraTora, that is not true. Boris's' deal is "oven ready" he will not be doing another deal. If Boris wins the election we will be out by January. That's not enough time for yet another deal.

What do you get that kind of idea?
Hopefully the new parliament will reject the deal, leaving No Deal as the default.
Question Author
The deal is oven ready. You think Borris will win then propose yet another deal? No, he won't.
the current non deal is May's non deal with a bit of tinsel, Boris knows that but it's the best he could do with the weak position he was in. The EUSSR correctly for them, took advantage of our division in the HOQ. With a large majority Boris can push through what he wants, therefore he is in a position to demand more from the EUSSR with the real threat of no deal if necessary. Essentially the position we would have been in without so many VBQC in the HOQ.
Question Author
ToraToraTora, listen to your leader. The deal is "oven ready", if he wins, we'll be out by January with that deal. That's his election promise.

Did you not watch the ITV Johnson / Corbyn debate? It seems not...

At no point has Boris ever said that he will propose a new deal if he wins the general election.

ToraToraTora, where have you got the idea that he will? It must have come from somewhere.
Anyone wonder whether these "documents" are the same ones waved about in April 2018? Notice the similarities.

//In a series of leaked documents from the Northern Ireland executive the true complications of resolving the Irish border – which European Union leaders have threatened to derail Brexit over.

Documents marked “official sensitive” were made leaked by the GUE/NGL European Parliament group, which includes Sinn Fein.

At least one of the letters is addressed to Olly Robbins, Theresa May’s so-called EU sherpa and her most senior advisor on Brexit.

In the note to Mr Robbins, David Sterling, the head of the civil service in Northern Ireland, voices his concern over the two solutions put forward by Westminster in negotiations as recently as last week in Brussels.

There is likely to be some negative impact on the economy

He stresses the proposals create a dangerous “back-door” for products, that fall below the EU’s tough standards, moving on from the UK, which would likely lead to disapproval of plans by Brussels.

Under Westminster’ plans, the UK would take responsibility for goods arriving in Northern Ireland which fall below the EU’s standards and ensure they would not move across the bloc.

The customs proposals were first set out in a paper published on Northern Ireland and customs in August last year and reportedly rubbished by Brussels, despite the UK still trying to push them in ongoing negotiations.

Mr Sterling’s letter was addressed to Mr Robbins days after the papers were released in August of last year.

He writes: “While the position papers have helpfully started a dialogue on movement of goods, many of the issues raised in June still require exploration.”

Evaluating the risk of a land border, executives say: “There i no quick or simple solution to the land border.

“There is likely to be some negative impact on the economy whether border controls are sited at the land or sea border, at least in the short-to-medium term.

“The policy question is therefore how these impacts can be minimised and what transitional support is required.”//

More dog whistle behaviour from agent Cob.
Question Author
Boris didn't have a deal in 2018 so I'm unsure how Corbyn could release leaked government documents that show Boris Johnson 'lied about Brexit deal' in 2018.
Question Author
"More dog whistle behaviour from agent Cob."

Well it seems that's the done thing in politics.
Agent Gob "produced the 15-page paper marked ‘official, sensitive’ at a press conference this morning". Really? Does that breach the official secrets act?
