Should The P M Break With Tradition In This Case? Definitely, the slimy little runt should get nothing. Wonder when Sir Nigel will get his Peerage that Boris Promised him for not opposing him ? As soon as possible I hope.

Anyone who managed to hack off as many Tories as Bercow has deserves any honours offered.

He was living the dream.
IMO he doesn't deserve one, whatever the protocol is, he is a tedious nasty man, although I don't know him personally.
don't give him a peerage. He'd never have time to sit in the HoL with his chat-show rounds (appearances may have decreased) and the money he is/will receive from the after-dinner circuit.
Giving him a title will make him think he can increase his fee.
Good point alba. This odious little man tried to single-handedly pervert the course of events voted for by a majority of this country. He most certainly does not deserve a peerage and tradition should be broken in this case - if only to remind future speakers of their duty of neutrality.

ich 20:31, we are all partisan, we are allowed to be but we are not refereeing are we? The speaker must be impartial like all the ones before Bercow have demonstrated. The judge is bang on, Bercow failed to do the job properly because he was not able to contain his personal views. It would be like a Manu supporter refereeing the Manchester derby.
TTT good analogy.
//Bercow did his job , and did it well.//

Actually he didn't. He overstepped his remit and abused his position. Give him a wooden spoon and stand him in the corner in disgrace.
You only think he’s biased because of your own views ;-)
He was definitely pompous and a bit of a windbag. But it wasn’t he who dreamt up the scenario we saw in the previous parliament. He was under pressure from both sides in a very unusual situation. Had he refused to stand up for parliament he’d have got flak from that quarter
he should but i bet he doesn;t...
i bet Bercow gets his peerage, odious little turnip
Lord Turnip. I like that.
I can think of a few things I'd like to give Bercow, a peerage is not one of them.

He was not impartial in the least and indeed boasted and allowed his on views to come to the fore. He disgraces the position and made the country a laughing stock.

He should be banished from these Isles.
Sir Lindsay is an honourable man, but I m not sure that the PM will do as he requests in this case.
If he deserved a peerage he would have got one.
Give him his peerage

And while we are at it , give Lewis Hamilton is Knighthood
When is the list out?
he strayed from the law. Such a man has no place in the Lords.

on the contrary, his place would be next to The Lord Archer
of Weston-super-Mare. But it's funny - I remember him as the speaker who allowed debate on the EU, which his predecessors had taken such pains to deflect.
Bercow did a good job as Speaker i.e. he ensured that things were done according to protocol and due process and not allowing the odious Boris to ride rough-shod over the House of Commons.
Oh no he didn't....

(Waits for 'Oh yes he did'...)

Oh no he didn't...
If Sir Lindsay’s view is ignored and the government stick to their petty attitude (and as pettiness goes it’s pretty much right up there) then that will be seen as just as biased a position as any perceived bias on the part of the Speaker. The argument, effectively, that the Speaker is supposed to be unbiased, but no one else, apart from being slightly ridiculous, misses the point already made that in that situation it would have been impossible not to have been biased one way or another. I liken it a bit to the Drumcree dispute in Co Armagh, where no matter what the government of the day ruled, there was no right or neutral approach that would have pleased everyone.
