Iran is pushing it’s luck and stupidly believe that troop withdrawal is a sign of weakness and capitulation.Wrong. I believe the Irani Ayatollas are due shortly for a bit of shock and awe. I am surprised ,so far, of the restraint shown by the U.S.

Troop withdrawal IS a sign a weakness and capitulation I’m afraid.
Trump is learning the hard way that these “endless ME wars” are there for a reason.
“Speak softly and carry a big stick” is often good advice. Trump seems to have been doing the exact opposite: ranting and raving while at the sane time thinking the US can afford to withdraw its forces.
It may well be true that this has avoided an imminent attack. On the other hand such a high profile act is bound to raise the stakes and Iran will feel it has to respond.

While the US has withdrawn from Syria (by no means all the doing of Trump of course) Iran and Russia have made hay.
While many of the troops from Syria have ended up in Iraq, the message coming out of the White House since 2016 had been “we want to be done with this”
Iran is at the heart of the current crisis in Iraq. The US have concentrated on dealing with IS there.
