Your quite right people do have rights and one of those rights is not to have a drunken woman roaming up and down the aisle demanding more wine and random sex wherever available. Insulting behaviour as well. The airline should have landed at the nearest airport had her offloaded, cancelled her air ticket and told her to make her own way home. They should then...

^^^^^ crude!
Being a nervous flyer myself I can sympathise with her nerves. We all deal with things differently.
Question Author
By attacking cabin crew and being crude to other passengers?
Errr, I don’t think so

They should have just served her more drink. She would have been satisfied and fell asleep from intoxication which was the desire. Instead the issue was escalated which is what they were trying to avoid.

It's something the airline does for the benefit of the person and others, however in many cases it just backfires. Sometimes, maybe it's easier just to sell another bottle of wine.
Question Author
TD , the airlines have a duty of care to themselves and other passengers, that’s a warped way way of thinking to serve her with another bottle of red !
Should ban her from flying for LIFE, drunken scut !!!
She wouldn't have kicked off though would she? She would have drank it and either: Fell asleep : Wanted more : Threw up.

All situations are much better than what is described in the article.

Worse case scenario is she died from alcohol poisoning and that still wouldn't reflect onto the airline.

When kids have their stomachs pumped on their first night out do we blame the clubs and pubs they were in for serving them?
I wouldn't take him on Bobbs, this is what he does .. !!
> She has been jailed for six months after she admitted being drunk on an aircraft and five charges of assault.

With five charges of assault, she deserved at least the six month sentence she got. She's lucky they didn't refuse her boarding at Abu Dhabi.
Question Author
Hi HereIam, yep, TD would insist he’s right anyway
Question Author
Very much so Ellipsis,
TD there was no guarantee she would have fallen asleep more alcohol could have made things worse.

I understand being drunk on a plane is a crime thus the airlines cannot condone this.

I have zero sympathy for her.
I have sympathy for her. Why other passengers had the right to get involved and try try help restrain her is beyond me. As a 20 something year old on your own on a flight, such actions would also cause me to escalate.

They obviously didn't do a good job, so probably should have just left her be.

Imagine being a 20 something year old on a flight on your own whilst 6 passengers and a number of airline staff are trying to pin you to a seat.

Awful... yes she may have been drunk but others should have known better how to settle the situation not escalate it.

If we compare this incident to one recently where a man was headbutted in the face whilst being restrained for shouting, should this woman have been headbutted in the face? Violence to try knock her out so that she is unconscious?

I'm sure if people have similar principles that they do think that should be the case.

The majority probably don't think that should be the case.

I wonder how they feel about this young woman (less than 21) being restrained by all these random passengers (males)?

It would cause you to kick and elbow a bit more let me tell you.
Question Author
Oh right so she should have been left to do as she pleases 30.000 feet up in the air???
Jeez!!!
No, but the situation could have been dealt with better. Unless they were going to get the rope out and tie her to the chair and put duck tape over her mouth?

People have rights, no one should be subject to 6 random people being forceful to them on a flight.
Probably just trying to shake off all the suppressant she received from being a woman in the UAE.
Question Author
You certainly have the weirdest mindset ever!
She’s from Manchester fgs, not a suppressed female living in the Emirates !

Insulting behaviour as well. The airline should have landed at the nearest airport had her offloaded, cancelled her air ticket and told her to make her own way home. They should then have recovered the extra costs involved from her.
