//Are there no immigration implications in their decamping to Canada? I'm sure I couldn't decide to move over there for most of the year without encountering problems.//
That’s because they are not the same as everybody else – a point that both they and many others seem to overlook. Harry’s position means that they will face no problems with the formalities that the rest of us have to endure, wherever they decide to live. If they want to move to the USA (as Ms Markle has indicated they will as soon as Mr Trump is gone) one of their lackies will pick up a phone and speak to one of the President’s lackies and that will be sorted. And this is the nub of the problem: the pair want to live “normal” lives, free of the restrictions and responsibilities that Royalty brings. But they cannot – Harry is the Queen’s grandson and when she is no longer with us he will be the King’s son and then the King’s brother. That is as much a defining feature of his life as is the colour of his skin. It cannot be washed or airbrushed away. Ms Markle knew this when she married him and they both must accept that, whatever they do, there lives will never be the same as their "common" friends and acquaintances.
