Gary Lineker et al may also like to take note. A load of comments underneath appear to agree with Mr Morgan

I don’t agree with the OP orMorgan. Grant is as entitled to his view as anyone else, and the right to post it wherever he feels. How is he ‘disgusting’?
The only difference is they are in a position to air their opinions very publicly

you're airing your views publicly right now, naomi. You choose not to put your name to them, that's the only difference.
There you go Naomi....the beep beep see, using my money, is going to broadcast your views and present them as facts. Fair's fair.
Jno, no that is not the only difference. I’m not famous - honest.
Well there are many who are not backward in coming forward with their opinions , day in and day out on here ; and furthermore consider their opinions , to be correct

So , what is it - express an opinion only if
'I 'agree with it ?

Like many people who pay good money to visit the theatre my wife and I would walk out and demand a refund if some Luvvie( cue Benedict Cumberbatch) chose to walk out on stage and give the audience a diatribe of what they think should or should not be sanctioned. They are paid to perform and not act beyond their remit. They are nobody important and are trained to do a job.

If people didn't visit this site with their opinions and generate debate it would more than likely fold. It costs nothing to you and I, but ,I don't pay TV Licences to allow some actor, TV sports pundit, alleged singer, or cook to visit his/her opinions on me. Like wise an expensive theatre ticket. If they wish to spout politics at the public's expense then become an MP.

Lol. That's a moot point especially, it appears ,in the world of scientists.
One should not voice one's opinion in the midst of King Lear Act 4 - that I do agree with.

I didn't realise Hugh was on stage.

Otherwise sounds like two blokes disagreeing to me.
RC, Grant was responding to a question about the election put to him by the interviewer. Surely in this case, the fault is with the interviewer, not the interviewee?

//Speaking to AP Entertainment, the Notting Hill actor called the result a “catastrophe” before adding: “The country’s finished.”

Commenting on a clip of the interview soon after it was posted on Twitter, Good Morning Britain host Mr Morgan hit out at the actor over his views.//

Where ,in the interview with AP Entertainment, does it say he was asked by an interviewer? If he was asked then surely it is because he is well known for airing his unsolicited views in public. Like a lot of his ilk he is known for seeking publicity when it suits but then runs to the Law courts when it doesn't .

//The actor made the brief comment in an interview with his The Gentleman co-star Charlie Hunnam for Associated Press in the US.

The interviewer mentioned Grant’s vocal campaigning during the election, where he campaigned for Labour and the Liberal Democrats.

“I’m just wondering, how are you feeling now everything’s kind of settled?” the interviewer asked.

“No, it’s a catastrophe,” Grant responded bluntly.

“So no… bright light on the horizon?” the reporter ventured.

“No, no, the country’s finished,” Grant said. //

Was asked a question and answered it.
I doubt you're a stranger to the smell of the greasepaint yourself, ken, but you mustn't take these things personally.
Actors are entitled to spout any old botox they like and we're entitled to take the ***.
Hugh should put his money where his mouth is and FO to LA.
He could hook up with his divine friends and put his money where their mouths are too.
One person criticises something someone else said about something.
No doubt someone else will have a go at Piers Morgan for saying that.
And so on.
Opinions opinions. They keep us all exercised.

Made me laugh. (¬‿¬)

Sorry, I was listening to a podcast and missed your reply. Lynne was quite correct with her transcript of the interview and the link to the film of that interview was within the Yahoo article included by the OP.

I am sure no-one would disagree with your response if an actor gave a political speech in the middle of a play you had paid to see.

But that is not what happened here, so really, your point has no validity.

Mr Grant was interviewed and asked, and answered, a question.

That does not translate into him knocking off in the middle of a stage performance to give the audience an in-requested view of politics.

We simply have to accept that there are large sections of the public who are interested in what famous people have to say, about anything.

Mr Grant is obviously famous enough to be interviewed, and asked his views - he can hardly be castigated for responding to a question.

Likewise, Mr Morgan is famous for offering his forthright opinions on just about anything, and he has that platform because the public give it to him.

All people who are not interested can do, is simply ignore either or both of them. We are not compelled to take notice of either, so if it annoys you, simply take no notice.

Lets hope you follow your own advice. I was surprised you hadn’t jumped in on the Gloria Hunniford thread.
I'd like to hear an interview with Eddie Izzard and Bob Geldof now that it's done and dusted.
The last thread on CB might be of interest to you, Andy. ;-)

I didn't 'jump in' because I hadn't seen the thread, but I have left an observation.

That still does not address my point, that Mr Grant was answering a question in an interview, which does not equate the to the unconnected and highly unlikely scenario that you concocted, in order to get worked up about it.
