I do not think this is how teachers should be distancing themselves from pupils.

TD, it seems we were at school in the same good old days - no pupils took knives to school, no pupils sat and texted their way all through lessons, no pupils openly defied the teacher...

" If teachers were allowed to enforce discipline in the classroom instead of today's, " touch me and I'll sue, I know my rights", nonsense then this sort of thing wouldn't be even considered."

Well if you can teach a child anything liek you can a dog then apparently only positive reward shuld be used, then we'd have a planet of angels and very obedient ones at that apprently.

I personally believe discipline goes hand in hand with learning, especially right and wrong. Some call it trial and error but with health and safety and human rights this method of progressions is frowned upon.

So be it.

"Students from elsewhere barge into the School grounds and you expect teachers and staff to round them up and cane them?"

Round them up and arrest them for tresspassing more like.

Maybe if schools were treated legally like safe places for young children, and those who tresspassed on the grounds were treated with the contempt it deserves then teachers wouldn't need body cams like they'r ePCSO's.

In fact, why not just get a couple PCSO's invovled?
When I was teaching there were a number of times when I felt I was in a very iffy situation with non students and would have welcomed something to make me feel safer.
TD, your scenarios are starting to get a bit far-fetched, as are your solutions.
Question Author
You have teachers in one community stalking the kids home not allowing them to go into their local shop or takeaway and literally blocking the door forcefully and in another you have teachers acting like PCSO's in the playground. You know when I was at school none of this nonsense happened, there was never any drama, the students were scared of the teachers because they were able to shout and get that vein in their head. The sheer idea they'd call home to tell your parents was enough to make any pupil sit on their hands. Now teachers have body cams? How long until they wear stab proof vests and have emergency buttons to immediately inform the police of any upset? Might as well give them batons and the ability to lock children in the playtime shed if they're bad.

What is the world coming to
Question Author
If you're in a situation with non students, then the issue isn't one that the school should be dealing with. If a teacher isn't on school grounds, it's not the schools problem, if they are, then the other person can get done for harassment or trespassing or putting children safety in compromise.

I find it hard to believe any random person can legally go onto a school playground and start causing havoc .
A bodycam would pick up a lot more detail than cctv. And if it's only used at the school gate, then how does that affect any discussion a student may wish to have in private?
\\ I find it hard to believe any random person can legally go onto a school playground and start causing havoc .\\
What about parents, very often they are worse than the students?
//I'd find it hard to respect a teacher who used a bodycam. It's 2020 this wasn't needed before and it isn't needed now//

Rubbish, its needed now more than ever. If a maniac with weapons heads into a school, something like that could save lives. It can also be used to prevent bullying. I'm a parent to a school aged kid. I have zero problems with this.

You seem to find a lot hard to believe. When I was teaching the schools were not on lock down as they are now and random people could access the site with ease. People intent in causing bother are not likely to leave just because you tell them to.
When were you last in school, TD? Depending on what sort of area a school is in, some have changed drastically.
Great, if only to show parents how disrespectful their lil 'angels' are.
Maybe pupils should wear them?
According to a recent report from Alder Hey Children's Hospital Emergency Department in Liverpool, kids are being brought in after being attacked on their way home from school, some very serious injuries, including slashings.

A parent would be the opposite of random

Next time someone goes to stab me i'll take a photo of them that'll stop em!

A body cam is not defence in any way.

\A parent would be the opposite of random/
Not in the schools near me, parents are only allowed on school premises when invited, they collect their child outside.
//A body cam is not defence in any way//

A bodycam surely relays a feed to another source. If that source sees an attacker, then assistance can be called in straight away. Not defense against an attack, but it could certainly save lives, which is what I stated to start with.
Td do you know what a ponzi scheme is?

TD if you were about 60 and talking of your school days your arguments might have some weight but as you claim to be about 21 or so 'when I was at school none of this nonsense happened, there was never any drama, the students were scared of the teachers because they were able to shout and get that vein in their head. The sheer idea they'd call home to tell your parents was enough to make any pupil sit on their hands" is quite frankly poppycock. Ask a few teachers.
