he must have been bloody cold hearted to have murdered her then gone on another date, who on earth does that. his sentence is far too lenient in my opinion.

I think other countries' legal systems all have elements that baffle outsiders. I think the USA sentencing can be bizarre - 142 years imprisonment, say! Non-Britons must be puzzled by our 'sentenced to 10 years, you'll be released in 5' stuff.

Emmie, this happened in New Zealand. New Zealand's laws don't allow the naming of murderers for at least two years after the trial.

Emmie, 9.11 - have you missed the posts saying that it's the law there?

The reasoning is that i) the police may be investigating other crimes this man has committed and has yet to be tried for and/or ii) he may successfully appeal. This means that he would be able to get on with life, get a job etc without prejudice.
