well i sort of agree with rooney. why pick on footballers? Why not say well government should take a 30% pay cut, childminders should take a 30% pay cut or shop owners shoud give up 30% of their profits? As i read the article, Rooney (who i can assure you i have no love for) isn't against wage deferrments ad cats, just questioning why it's a national debate
There are a lot more people earning more than footballers in the City.
Why are very high paid Government Minister like Hancock not giving up their earnings, or none doms like Tory Donor Lord Ashcroft, or Even all those bankers who took £1Million plus bonuses a few weeks ago.
Be asked to take pay cuts, sorry but I don’t get why he ( living in America ) and being filthy rich, should object to donating 30% p of their wages for a short time to help the NHS and I’m with you who are saying it should be all high earners
he's saying he wouldn't mind - did you actually read the article? Also what constitutes a "high" earner? For most people its "people who earn more than i do" You yourself have said you are saving money in the lock down, and i think pensions are generous. Woud you be happy if MH said that pensioners should give up 30% of their pension
I'm with Rooney here, at least in principal. He's not saying that they shouldn't take pay cuts, but saying that now they should be allowed some say as to where the money they donate goes to. Matt Hancock has basically used them for political point scoring.
It seems that just before Hancock said his piece, the premier league captains held a conference call to discuss how to go ahead with pay cuts and charity donations. Now it looks like they're kowtowing to the government's wishes, or you if they refuse, they look like entitled rich boys.
