Most of Premier league players can take a pay cut, the Premier League have voted overwhelmingly to do this and Rooney has kicked off!

Why is it always football players?

Why doesn't this apply to other sports and high earners?

Easy targets.
well i sort of agree with rooney. why pick on footballers? Why not say well government should take a 30% pay cut, childminders should take a 30% pay cut or shop owners shoud give up 30% of their profits? As i read the article, Rooney (who i can assure you i have no love for) isn't against wage deferrments ad cats, just questioning why it's a national debate
cuts of course not cats :)

I think it’ll be the tip of the iceberg and others will follow
? many will follow what
Agree with Sp,

There are a lot more people earning more than footballers in the City.
Why are very high paid Government Minister like Hancock not giving up their earnings, or none doms like Tory Donor Lord Ashcroft, or Even all those bankers who took £1Million plus bonuses a few weeks ago.
Wayne makes some valid points, it's not simply an ill thought out rant.

Be asked to take pay cuts, sorry but I don’t get why he ( living in America ) and being filthy rich, should object to donating 30% p of their wages for a short time to help the NHS and I’m with you who are saying it should be all high earners
Okay..why not everyone who earn over £100,000?

Why not CEOs CFOs, actors, musicians, sports stars, financiers, builders, designers, land owners, designers, architects?
he's saying he wouldn't mind - did you actually read the article? Also what constitutes a "high" earner? For most people its "people who earn more than i do" You yourself have said you are saving money in the lock down, and i think pensions are generous. Woud you be happy if MH said that pensioners should give up 30% of their pension
only for a short time of course, as you are suggesting for others :)
Question Author
Yes, get them on board too , obviously I’m a voice in the wilderness re Mr Rooney
Question Author
BN, you could never equate my pension with that of a premier league player !
I'm with Rooney here, at least in principal. He's not saying that they shouldn't take pay cuts, but saying that now they should be allowed some say as to where the money they donate goes to. Matt Hancock has basically used them for political point scoring.

It seems that just before Hancock said his piece, the premier league captains held a conference call to discuss how to go ahead with pay cuts and charity donations. Now it looks like they're kowtowing to the government's wishes, or you if they refuse, they look like entitled rich boys.

I’ll go a step further and say most PL players are divas ...but that’s just my opinion and No, I’m not with Rooney at all
Let's see the bankers put their hands in their pockets. They earn more than anyone.
no, but hey, you seem to have more disposable cash than me so i think you should take a 30% pay cut. It really is exactly what you are saying
Question Author
And you know that how BN?
Question Author
Arhh Mozz now ya talking lol
I'm saying that there are folk earning more than sportsmen, so why did Mr Hancock pick on them alone.
