Perhaps he should serve his time and then do 6 months community service as a mortuary orderly in a ITU unit. Without the benefit of PPE of course.
not defending this guy in any way, but how on earth do you steal masks from a hospital? If they're so precious (and they are), do they not keep them locked up?

He may of walked in as an out-patient and stole them off a trolley in an examination room. No one is challenged walking in a hospital usually.

could be. They probably do need to look after valuable items more carefully, then. I know they've already got lots of things to do, but this relates to their own health, which needs to be a priority if they're to treat others.

Exactly. That is why I think his sentence is derisory. There are further issues that should be considered.
Since non-violent prisoners are being released from prison - will he actually serve any time, do you think? He deserves much longer, of course, especially as he is obviously not a first offender.
You can't lock masks away, they need to be easily to hand sometimes seconds count.
