A couple of weeks ago when this phenomenon first reared its head I explained on here how residents in my area had dutifully stood at their doors and windows applauding. Then five minutes later seven or eight of them (from three or four different households) all gathered together for a chat for a quarter of an hour.
It's well known on here that I am not at all convinced that the "social distancing" that has been encouraged has had much of an effect on the spread of the virus (though that's another argument). But it is utterly ridiculous for people who, presumably do not think like me, to stand in large groups on Westminster Bridge, taking pictures of each other, applauding the people who have helped the country with a disease that is spread from person to person. You could not make it up.
