Five Weeks Of Lies

For five weeks now Matt Hancock has insisted that there wasn't a shortage of PPE, nearly every hospital and care home in the country was saying there was, he also insisted that it was a logistical problem only, and that was with 20 thousand army personal drivers ready to deliver. When the army joined us, we were told, this is what the army are brilliant at ( logistics ) ?

Today he says he wished he had a magic wand to produce PPE. When will Mr Hancock face up to the fact that the UK was oh so slow off the starting block, and the cost of that, was peoples lives, especially NHS lives. When will he start telling the truth, ( never).

They've also been telling us that we don't need to wear a face mask,(now their thinking about it), but waiting for the science to tell them. Common sense tells me that face masks can help stop the spread of the virus, if they didn't, then the rest of the world wouldn't be wearing them, or nurses wearing them in hospital or care homes, ( when they can get them) We all know about the top of the range mask that they need to wear in ITC, but the rest of the nurses are wearing bog standard face masks.

There are now UK manufactures pulling out all the stops to produce PPE, they say they have be ignored by Matt Hancock for weeks now, even after making it known to him that they could make what was required. How many more lives need to be lost before they supply the nation with face masks like every other country is doing.

I've changed my mind about Mr Hancock,( give someone a chance to get sorted,) he's had five weeks, and all we've had is five weeks of lies. Whatever advice he or the government give out, I for one will take with a pinch of salt, and do my own thing.

teacake is definitely a gloom and doom merchant, as I have opined before, BUT I don't like Matt Hancock and don't think he's up to the job, so I agree with him here (for a change).

I’m involved in design, Naomi. The last thing our clients will be looking at is investment before stabilisation.
Not a happy prospect then, zacs. I expect your pension pot, like everyone else's, has taken a hit too. The repercussions of this are abysmal. The quicker we get back to normal the better.
But no, when this ends I'd expect to be able to resume as normal. Yes I appreciate that's a privileged position but it's not like the lockdown hasn't affected me massively, along with the rest of the country of course.

But that doesn't undermine the advice and expert opinion from across the world, that the clear and present danger from this disease is such that the country had to implement these measures, painful as they undoubtedly are.
I dare not look at my pension pot for fear of throwing a hemp rope over one of my King Post trusses, N. There will be no getting back to normal for quite some time, if ever.
I didn't ask for yet another lecture, Jim. We know what the government had to do. I just hope it's short lived. Count yourself lucky is all I can say. Others aren't so fortunate.
I know, zacs. It's dire. But take heart. I think once we get the country back to work things will soon pick up. The eternal optimist. That's me.
Excellence, N. I’m still pretty positive myself to be honest. As Paul Mcartney sang ‘all I need is a pint a day, if I ever get out of here’ ;-)
You never have to ask for a lecture. It will always be given. :)

It's part of the way I offer my views and I ain't changing on your account.
Good. Hopefully it'll soon be over.

We don’t want you to, Jim. We’ll always need your balanced opinion
:o)
I think the US will be one of the biggest losers. They’re waaaay ahead of the curve and showing no signs of stopping. In fact, the re opening of Florida beaches shows a criminal disregard for the situation.
I’m sick of all the best guesses and forecasts and gloom. It does nothing to help the situation because none of us can change a thing. I’ll just wait and see.
Did you know that America’s death toll from Covid19 is currently 2/3 of the death toll from the 20 year war in Vietnam?

Is that US lives or total number of lives lost in Vietnam? Without googling I don't know how many lives were lost in that war.

I know the toll from this virus is very high in the US.
America’s death toll, Naomi. Pretty clear.

Maybe it's an opportunity to redesign the way we approach certain types of economic activity.

They need to get something better than what is happening now in place for the inevitable 'next time'

I asked if a sort of full hibernation period was a better way to go but the AB money experts instantly dismissed it.

Oh right, zacs.
