Yet again unfulfilled. Booze-ups and breweries springs to mind

The gov.uk website set up for key workers to book coronavirus tests was not accepting new applications on Friday morning.

It said: “Coronavirus test: applications closed. You can’t currently register for a Covid-19 test. Please check back here later.

“If you need any information and advice on Covid-19, read our pages on coronavirus.”

"The NHS is free to all..."

That view has always irritated the bejesus out of me.

It is free at the point of use, but it most certainly is not free. It may be free for you if you're not a taxpayer, but for everybody who pays tax, it is not free.
The NHS is free to everyone. Americans pay tax, but no free hospital treatment. The NHS is free in the UK.
@15.32 the penny will never drop, some even still talk of holidays booked for July, and even carry on to say if July becomes out, then October/ November will do. Hilarious really. Almost has if by flicking a switch it will disappear. Just wish I could flick a switch for Hancock.
"The NHS is free to everyone. Americans pay tax, but no free hospital treatment. The NHS is free in the UK."

Are you serious?
The NHS is free.
It will provide you with all medical, dental and nursing care. Everyone — rich or poor, man, woman or child — can use it or any part of it. There are no charges, except for a few special items. There are no insurance qualifications. But it is not a “charity”. You are all paying for it, mainly as tax payers, and it will relieve your money worries in time of illness.[2]

The above letter was sent to every house in 1948 when the NHS started.
"The NHS is free."

Jesus wept - there's no hope when you can't comprehend something so basic.
//The NHS is free. //

Who pays for it, teacake?
I don't live in the UK, but even I can grasp the very simple and basic concept that the NHS is certainly not FREE.
I feel they chose the wrong person to lead this. As understanding medical evidence will be paramount someone with a science background would be preferable. Enquiries should not be led by someone still trying to resolve their own issues not by someone who could see a fascist slant in a basket of kittens
Racist not fascist

Usual Tories on this thread trying to deflect it again.

Why dont you get a life instead of scouring the media all the time just so you can come on here trying and to fool and lie to people that youre intelligent
When somebody comes out with something so breathtakingly stupid as Teacake has about the NHS being free, I think it's right to call them out.
Go to too America and pay for a bog standard operation and you'll understand, oh, hang on, you may need a loan over about ten years. :0)
The system of health care in the states, teacake, does not in any way prove your statement that the British NHS is FREE.
Rowanwitch- did you mean to post your two posts on the Lady Lawrence Covid Racist thread?
Teacake, who pays for the NHS?
The NHS is free? right oh! what's that hole in my pay each month then?
Even if there were 100,000 tests a day it still wouldn’t be enough so crashing the site is going to be a daily event until they can to 500,000 a day. However as a key worker I’m not going to bother getting tested. I will either have it, get it or I won’t. Knowing won’t change that. If I get it I’m in a demographic that will get sick so will know pretty soon if I have. And not forgetting the test is only as good as the day you take it.

The NHS is not free. It is only free to those that do not or have never paid UK taxes.

Even my children know this. And right now I’m making an assumption that Teacake is not a child but is either to thick to understand the tax and NI system and funding for (in this instance) NHS or simply deliberately winding people up by pretending to be as thick as ***.
