This Isn't A Protest
it's a riot.Somebody throws a bike in the direction of a police horse, the horse bolts, the policewoman is thrown off the horse and the crowds cheer. The riot police should all be out if this continues and more people arrested. The protests should be stopped, now.

Don't make me laugh jim. You weren't born when the Aldermaston annual March took place. A long walk with Michael Foot as the vanguard from Aldermaston to Trafalgar. Everybody had a jolly good giggle as they sat down in protest and were bodily lifted out of the thoroughfare only to return. Even the coppers thought it was a game. That was Civil Disobedience and the CND made their point. They did not near riot and cause criminal damage to war memorials although they were against nuclear armament. They did not cause horrific injuries to a WPC . What is a bigger laugh they most probably paid their taxes, worked and were not professional agitators like the examples we saw last night. I note the SWP placards are hidden these days. Too easy to pick out rent a mob isn't it?

And to compound matters we have smug tw@s tweeting carp like this, "Can someone edit down (the footage of) the guy hitting the traffic light over and over again to the opening bar of Gwen Stefani's hollaback girl'
This from Hannah Jane Parkinson, a Guardian journalist. Words fail me.
Footage has also come to light from yobs filming the activities of their mates showing them deliberately pushing bicycles into the legs of the Police horses in an attempt to tangle and trip them. Which anarchic genius conceived and organised that?

Do they work there, though? I thought that France was famous for its regular large-scale protests, so it's not like water-cannons have killed off protesting.
The only solution in the long run to protests is to address their root cause. Anything else is a sticking plaster on a gunshot wound at best. Plus, water cannons are indiscriminate -- not everybody at a protest is an anarchist, not everybody deserves to be arrested or detained, but the water cannon can't tell the difference -- and sometimes even fatal, or cause serious injury.

I think that the authorities should stop using mounted-police during these riots. Firstly, they don't really seem to accomplish much regarding controlling the mobs, and secondly, and perhaps more importantly, these magnificent animals present themselves, and their riders, as highly visible targets to the rampaging idiots.
more peaceful and lawful protest, in Bristol this time

although i'm surprised Mr Colston has stayed on his plinth as long as he has, so divisive is he in his home city.
there's plenty of good evidence as to who did it, but I bet the authorities dare not prosecute anyone.
