I need to be convinced that what I’m hearing is worth supporting. Up until now that hasn’t happened. That said, you seem pretty impressed by what’s happening. You're all for it.
//This general self-entitlement on this site has been quite awful, recently.//
Has it? Can’t say I’ve noticed. What would that be then?

Would you refuse to send a sick child to Stoke Mandeville because of their links to Jimmy Savile? Of course you wouldn't. The same applies to Guys. Whatever happened in the past, there are hard working staff whose job it is to save lives. You don't need to honour Guy's memory to use the hospital, just honour the staff who work to extenuate the negatives of it's founder.
As you'd say, naomi, that's your problem really. I haven't said I'm impressed by anything, so not sure where you have found that. It makes no difference to me, but it does to other people, so it isn't my place to judge.
If you haven't seen the general "me, me ,meness" on recent threads, again, that is part of the problem. I have read through a few without commenting, as it seems pointless... again, showing what we are up against really.

It has been fairly toxic in here recently. A lot of folk (and I will not name names) have taken what is happening in the aftermath of George Floyd's killing as a signal to ramp up their own latent racist opinions. Some have been trivial, which I can almost understand given the recent events, some have been disg usting.

Sorry, badly worded. The point I'm making is the founder of something like a hospital does not define the work performed there now. Not liking the founder should not stop anyone from benefitting from the hospital

Using facilities provided by a benefactor that you’d rather confine to oblivion is hypocritical. You mention Jimmy Savile, but there can be no comparison between him and the founder of Guys. The former was a criminal - the latter never so. It’s only in hindsight that we regard slavery as the appalling blight on humanity that it was. The founder of Guys, like many others who brought benefits in social change and prosperity to this country, was a man of his time - that's all.
