Anthony Joshua, Don't Use 'White' Shops
71 Answers
As Tyson Fury has commented today.
If Tyson had said that white people should not use black or Asian owned shops, there would be mass hysteria and he would've been hounded out of town.
So how come AJ can say such things and get away with it, double standards or what!

I have less than no interest in boxing, but I am willing to bet that he has a fight coming up, and is keen to cash in some free publicity by saying something controversial, and getting a load of people all het up.
Judging by this thread, it's worked.

AJ said "Abstain from spending your money in their shops and economies and invest in black-owned businesses"
I said "I will only invest in a black-owned business"
I'm sorry Ellipsis, I honestly think you're picking things apart, because you have no intention of addressing the real point of what Joshua said. This has become a completely pointless conversation. I'm giving up.

The spinning by Ellipses is astonishing - he must be dizzy as hell.
It is mealy-mouthed to suggest that because Joshua said "their" rather than "white" and that "their" might just refer to racist business/shop owners rather than white business/shop owners. Expecting us to believe this is stretching credulity too far (I don't know about you, but I wouldn't have a clue if a shop owner was racist or not).

No. What I'm suggesting is that Joshua would not claim he didn't say that and that people are spinning his words, if he did say that or mean that. Because that would mean he was cancelling out his own message.
Now when you look at the title of this thread, with the word White in the headline, and you search through the text of Joshua's speech and you can't find the word White mentioned even once, you might choose to take his claims of being misrepresented at face value.
Or you might decide that you prefer your own spin on his words because it fits your narrative and purpose better.
