doesn't matter how old it is, it is cited to illustrate that when a white man is murdered, there was no world wide outpouring of violence and looting, there was no world wide handwringath on, there were no statues being torn down and celebs and politicians prostrating themselves and begging for forgiveness for having the temerity to exist. The fact that many...

//Gosh.....that little nuggest must have been being stored in a particularly deep barrel requiring much scraping.... //
Not by me. That was in the News today on-line. I came across it having just logged on to Internet Explorer and that story was in Yahoo news today.
Pwrhaps JTH,after you cleaned your sniper rifle you could express your displeasure to Yahoo UK News.As they say don't shoot the messenger.
I suppose, even though4 years old, the difference in attitude and decorum is still blindingly obvious.

// "Voice of reason my aris. TTT conveniently forgets that the present agitation....//
"Voice of reason TTT ....
I think it is particularly unfair - unkind even and NOT in the spirit of AB - to alight by chance on a particularly stupid and pointless theme of TTT's - and having checked it is senseless in all interpreetation
pre fix it with the phrase - - the voice of reason

A tragic murder, but one where the scumbag was caught and punished. Ignoring the age of the crime, it has to be mentioned that this was in no way racially motivated. Nor was it committed by someone employed to keep the peace and protect the public.
If we're going to use old cases RC, I'm sure I can find some KKK lynchings to counter with.

The similarity between these two cases is obvious, both men died.
The differences as Mozz pointed out are that one died at the hands of a teenager with a swinging brick for a heart and will hopefully stay incarcerated for life.
The other died at the hands of a Police Officer with a clear vicious streak and no care for his primary duty. How long will he serve if found guilty?
The ensuing riots are the result of many ears of frustration after countless people have died in similar ways.
I cannot condone the bad behaviour done in the name of that cause but I can understand it.

A little more than that Mamyalynne.
Until today, that Metro news pop up was the first I knew of this heinous evil and cruel crime on an old war veteran with a blameless record. If some of the jeering ABers were honest with themselves I would wager they were also unaware of this crime either. It may be old new but it isn't fake news. Why Metro published it today is a matter for the editor to explain.
The difference is that we will have, names like Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, George Floyd continually thrust down our throats. All good people ,some who should not have died prematurely, in a cruel and needless fashion.
It appears that this senseless death of an old gentleman sits very uncomfortably with some ABers as it appears that their statute of limitations for outrage and condemnation does not extend four years back to an old white man. They will follow like sheep and jump on the bandwagon but have nothing to say about this or the death of the BLM activist killed this week by a black man.
I would sooner learn about the death of this old man four years later than watching towns and livelihoods being burned and looted as his memorial. Most people did not know because the looting and mayhem did not ensue.
retrocop - // Obviously no death penalty in that particular state. //
One of the major flaws with the death penalty as a 'deterrent' is that it clearly fails to work.
To be effective, we need to assume that violent criminals who would actually take a life are forward thinking enough to stop for a moment and think "Hmmm, if I get caught for this, I could be executed! Better think again …"
Does anyone with any intelligence honestly believe that such a thought process takes place - especially given that most murders are 'heat-of-the-moment', and no-one who actually commits a crime ever seriously contemplates its consequences.
If you are bright enough to think ahead as far as consequences, you are probably bright enough not to be a criminal in the first place, and certainly bright enough not to complete an act that could end with your execution.

I would say this youth put a little thought behind his crime. Just happened to have a can of petrol and united it with an ignition source after dowsing the old man with the petrol.. My surprise he wasn't charged Murder1. We don't know the full facts but it would appear pre meditaded from what I have read.
Still he got his rewards in the end. We'll see how Mr Chauvin fairs later.
