no thread on this yet.
so I thought I would remind you
what do ABers think? - my own surprise is the speed at which the police conduct dept acted, why it was put on internet media without complaint
and why the body cameras were not showing they were on - so the only film is viral on the internet
oh and the editor has asked me to point out that the sunny Sun report that one explained " I was only taking the knee" is completely untrue - he said something else

Isolated incidents can not indicate general practice. That said, given the recent publicity on the kneeling hold, one would hope the police knew better methods of restraining someone. One would have hoped individual officers would have the sense to know not to use it unless there was no alternative.
I am guessing there aren't viral videos of white suspects undergoing the same treatment. One wonders if this is because it never happens, or, as seems more likely, there's no incentive to circulate evidence that doesn't support one's preferred viewpoint. Meanwhile the police force are right to investigate the incident.

Carry a knife, and whether your black or white expect the unexpected. there's plenty of white suspects that get the same treatment OG, watch some of the police programs on TV when the drunks are turning out the pubs. But that don't sell papers, and the TV media see it has a great story for some reason if its a black guy.

\\TC//11.08 Police tactics have to change has the threats change.//
How on earth have the threats changed? Do you think that back in the 60's we didn't have to face violent offenders?.The only thing that has changed is the quality of police recruits and lack of good leadership.//
Knives and guns are being carried more and more frequently now, how many stabbings in london in the last two years compared to the 80s

I couldn't care less how he was arrested, as long as he was. If you look he is hand cuffed at the front, that tells me it was a struggle to cuff him behind, so they still needed to restrain him. The most dangerous task you did in the sixties was walk the high street trying all the shop doors to see if they were locked. The pups were closed at 10pm, not open during the day, and very few, if any night clubs.
Any disagreements outside a pub, ( and they did happen) was sorted with fisty cuffs, not a 8 inch blade or a gun.
If you want gang rule on all the streets of the UK then keep condemning the police every time they arrest a black guy with force.
The next time there's a stabbing in London or anywhere else don't come on here complaining that the police were not there.
Has for the government wanting to recruit 20 thousand police officers, they've got no chance with this crap going on. For the poster/ posters who wish that this officer loses his job and pension, don't ever complain about crime being committed when he was trying to prevent crime, and doing his job, hope you feel safe walking the streets when there's no police, or very few left. A bit like the nurses that are leaving the NHS in droves because they are not being kept safe, and care workers who are told they got it all wrong.

\\Webbo, //Knives and guns are being carried more and more frequently//
What has frequency got to do with how an offender is treated? The point in question is how this man was arrested.//
Because the police aren't shown any respect no(you can tell that by this thread) so they must be a lots hard than their counterparts from 40 years ago, no more ..evening all, mind how you go.

Your ignorance is astounding.I have been concerned with ,more arrests (as also were my fellow officers)than you have had hot dinners.I will now leave this thread to you before I tell you what I really think of you, which would get me banned.

TC, unusually, makes some good points, I don't care how plod arrests low life criminal scum either. However TC I do think you've had an attack of the rose tinted specs. In any era there were violent villains walking the streets. All this "you could leave your front door open" type BS is just that. Some of the most violent criminal times were in the post war years of the 50s/60s/70s Knives of all sorts were carried including razor edged metal combs etc.
