Not affected, but I am annoyed by this. As I wrote on Naomi's thread, unless hospital admissions or deaths have increased alarmingly (which doesn't appear to be happening), then why are people being "locked up" in their homes again? An increase in positive Covid tests doesn't necessarily mean more people are infected just that more are known about. The...

it's multi generations living under the same roof, x family gets together with other x families to celebrate, and let's x family members are taxi drivers...go to work after celebrations, thus passing on covid.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind. I trust Hancock doesn't do it for fun, so one has to go with the flow. That said, I suspect they're overcompensating because with hindsight they've been criticised for being late applying restrictions so far.

Thing is, we know we have the virus for the foreseeable future, we surely aren't going to tolerate restrictions for evermore, and as the peak infection figure has already proved manageable, there is a strong argument for just seeing how things go and getting back to normality quickly. It's just a case of waiting for the majority to stop slavishly approving of more restrictions & demands, and obeying them; and instead switching to demanding removal of such impositions. Unsure how long that'll take. (They could start by removing this oppressive face covering rule today.)

How's Sweden coping now, anyway ?
Gulliver, I grew out of being in fan clubs when I was about 14. I certainly am not a fan of anyone on AB. I recognise bullying when I see it. And also recognise old AB trouble makers and the bullies from way back, even when names change.
At the end of the day England has the highest death rate in Europe. No matter what, or who you blame.
Apc 15.11 yes, I have noticed the name change also.
Does anyone really think the vast majority will take notice of the restrictions? Just tell them not to be surprised when the cases go up and not to blame the government or call for an investigation.
15.31 ,that is why England has got the highest death rate in Europe, because the majority will... Not.., take notice of restrictions.
gulliver1, yea all the idiots who flew off on holiday, and the protestors..blm, and muslim funerals and celebrations...
Nothing worse than Brits Abroad, Fender.
I do live in the areas covered by the newly reimposed restrictions and hopefully won't be too affected by them on a personal level.

I feel for those who will.
mamya can you tell me why you won't be too affected please?
// muslim funerals and celebrations //

Only on AB muslims criticised for dying.
They can't help dying but they were having 100+ mourners (including an MP) at a time attendance was restricted to 30.
These rulings won't affect Eid. They'll just be ignored and, frankly, I don't blame them.
^ that restriction was 6 mourners.
Spicerack,
Thanks for the disinformation.
Up to 100 people attended the funeral, but not at once.

// West Midlands Police confirmed it was alerted to reports of a large crowd but officers found 15 mourners in family groups observing social distance rules. //
That'd be why the Labour MP apologised.
Told you before Gromit, I don't tell lies, I'm not a leftie.
Who cares how many mourners were, allegedly, there when the police turned up? Maybe you'd like to check how many were left at midnight.
Every paper in the country said there were 100 mourners. I'll take that over a gromit 'fact' any day of the week.
Sometimes it's better to admit you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.
// Sparkly , have you an eye department at your hospital //

I dont wish to pick - but isnt this the thread where I exressed my arabic sentiments ( and a lot of muslims are arab and even more read a book in arabic ) and was told sharpish to keep to the point?

ho hum only on AB - anyway - no I dont think they will go on celebrating as they can see that the likely victims will be the elderly relations.

and no I dont think you can afford to wait for an intensive care spike as you have a delay of 14 d.

Bit late with that prediction, pp. They ignored the rules yesterday and last night. Guess that wasn't reported on the aBBC, eh?
