I see wearing a mask as a short-term measure which may, just, help slightly slow down the spread of Covid . It is a minor issue- I wear one maybe twice a week for 15 minutes. I'm happy to do so as it might help a bit, it makes others feel better, and it doesn't put others (eg staff) in a possible uncomfortabl

I think they were just flabbergasted and frustrated at folk knuckling down to more control from authority without realising what they were supporting/encouraging. I may not agree with their actions, nor with everything they believe, but applaud their ability to realise how valued freedom is being chipped away slowly with no one objecting as they ought.
That sums up the problem Bobbie, folk not seeing freedoms being removed for some reason. When it is dictated what the citizen must wear, that should be a red flag. At one time weren't Chinese folk obliged to wear Mao suit and read Mao's thoughts from a little red book ? We should value what we have not chip away at it.

If it becomes compulsory 254 hours a day and goes on for months while infections fall to a trickle, i would agree it's an imposition too far, but we are nowhere near that stage and I'm sure never will be.
It's one of many laws, rules, requirements that some will regard as an imposition but is for the greater good- compulsory seat belts in the main, no smoking in restaurants/shops, no hand held mobile phones when driving, the expectation that you will not shop naked, not being drunk while driving- all perfectly sensible to the vast majority despite what O_G might think
