Seem to remember when all the idiot MPs and slebs were holding up cards saying 'I'll take in an asylum seeker' the Gov hastily rushed through some new rules.
Eg, only a Muslim could take in a Muslim, they had to have an autonomous building with their own entrance, etc.
So if not illegal even the most committed virtue signaller was able to wriggle off their hook.

I don't understand the concept of a spare room. Never known a time when I had sufficient rooms let alone a spare one. Perhaps if I had a multi-winged mansion...

If people with spare rooms want to help out, there are already loads of homeless people here. They should probably go out and find someone sleeping in a doorway and offer them the room first.

When I worked with the RBL alongside my late Father we helped run accommodation for former ex service personnel who had fallen on hard times, there are lots of schemes we don't all hear about.

Those who criticise those who say they wouldn’t offer an asylum seeker a spare room haven’t through it through. Homes are not hotels. Take a stranger into your home and you not only have to share facilities with him, you have to live with him and tolerate whatever that may bring - and so do the rest of your household. Regardless of the number of spare rooms in my house I wouldn’t consider it.

I have spare rooms and they are not having a single one of them. Call me what you like but thats the way it is. As Naomi points out there is far more than just the room.

I suspect you home insurance could be voided too if you weren't careful, plus there are leases and covenants to watch out for.

have a criminal history, maybe have tb aids covid, likes children?
very serious questions that have to be asked, altruism has a price.
