This is exactly why I won't be travelling until this madness is over. Why are these eejits so desperate do visit another country? Now it's a field day for the travel companies who can charge what they like. This was always bound to happen.

Nope. Its perfectly possible to agree with a comment made by sombody who is not within one's circle of people who one likes.

note how carefully that was phrased :)
Hehe, love your sense of humour xx
Most people have highlights that make their life worth living be it meeting with family, plying sport, going to the theatre, going to the pub etc and for some it's a holiday abroad. All those activities have been curtailed and most have sympathy for those it has upset - apart from holidaymakers. It seems to me that it's mainly those who don't do foreign holidays that question and dismiss with some acidity why others want to. Personally we work really hard all year and foreign holidays are all we look forward to. It's been a big deal not being able to go.
Answered perfectly by Prudie
Yes Prudie, it is a big deal, like hugging a grandchild, seeing your Mum and so on. There are things I want to do that are a big deal for me, but I look at the risks and likely outcomes and go "no, not yet" I don't think people are eejits for their opinions on what is a big deal, I think they are....well....lets say lacking in forethought.
What risk do you envisage in hugging your grandchild, woofy? And when you say "No, not yet" what will make you say "It's OK now"?

I'm trying to get a handle on the risk aversion culture that has reached epidemic levels in the UK in the last few months.
Why do people think its not a proper holiday unless they go abroad? There are some beautiful places in the UK which these people have probably never seen.
13.19, you say " Lacking in forethought " translated into the language of the not so well educated that means eejits,
