Somebody called Nina on the Jeremy Vine show today said cases like this were all the fault of the government's confused message and wittily (not) said the only thing she was clear about that you were allowed to drive to Barnard Castle to test your eyes. People are too willing to make excuses for plonkers like this when so many are making sacrifices for the good of themselves, friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and strangers they encounter

The version I read had a spokesperson from Ryanair saying that the person had received a text before departure - not before boarding - and that they were fully compliant with Covid requirements at all times.
