Boris is Floundering, and his Majority may not save him. Normally a Pm with a big working majority does not have many worries about backbenchers. That is what Thatcher thought, also with a Huge Majority until her own MPs ousted her. Boris with his back increasingly against the wall , after only nine months in power is concerning his own MPs,
( you could see it in their faces at PMQs.) His handling of Covid + his loyalty to Cummings, Gavin Williamson , Robert Jenrick, and the his idea of Tony Abbott as trade Sec ,are amongst just a few of their concerns. Oh dear.
Come on leave Gully alone he is only trying to participate in his own way. At least he asks questions which is more then some people do.
Gully, I think you first statement is not quite correct. Whilst I agree he appears to be floundering the majority may not save him but it will save the Tory Party. They can get shot of Johnson, but I doubt it will be this year, and elect a new leader, as happened with Blair/Brown. No further election would need to be fought.
Boris was only really elected to get us out the EU. He has done that so it probably would be a good time for him to go sometime next year to allow the next incumbent time to put their stamp on the Party ready for the next election.
In case you hadn't noticed teacake we ARE out. While negotiations are ongoing that does not mean he did not complete the job he intended to do. We are not going back just because some people don't want us to have left.
no he has a big - - - - majority
it is erm 86 ( votes - dirty boy!)
and the more the next election looks like a reduced majority. Down to say 10 or 15 for those on AB not used to addition or subtraction, the whips really DO go round and say - "you wanna be MP still or go onda dole q?" and those 86, dammit toe the line
Actually backbenchers can be a problem with a large majority, but in a different way.
If a government has a large majority then back benchers may feel they can be awkward, or express their feelings, without being accused of trying to bring down the government. Or without, in fact, bringing down the government.
Johnson is floundering though: quite a change from the days of Corbyn, who was a sitting duck.
13.53 , "In case you hadn't noticed teacake we ARE out"
In name only. Already , Logistic bosses are worried about significant gaps in the supply chain and can foresee empty supermarket shelves They have called for an urgent meeting with Boris The Uk will struggle to stand alone , it has been tried before
Gulliver //In name only//
No, not in name only, we arequote[out]. There is a negotiating period which ends on 31st Dec in order to negotiate a deal with the EU.
If we come out with no deal , which is what Johnson is heading for , I can well see the UK Grinding to a halt in Jan , and the Tories leading the Country into a Winter of discontent.
It's just a shame that the EU negotiators are like gulliver, It's either their way or the highway they do not negotiate or debate they just want to tell us what to do and we must agree with them a bit like a dictatorship. Anyway gulliver why the "If we come out with no deal" when you claim not to live here anyway. Why does the WE affect you.
