Are We Destroying The Economy In Order To Prolong The Lives Of The Old And Frail?
Are we putting the livelihoods of millions of young people, some with children and mortgages at risk so some old lady in a care home can live a bit longer? Yes that is an extreme and some might say heartless example but basically that is what we are doing. When are politicians going to get a backbone and stand up and say that yes there may be more deaths as winter approaches but I'm afraid it's something we will have to live with, there is not much else we can do apart from what we are already doing. Another total lock down is out of the question and would be economic suicide. As I have often said, we can't save everybody and the sooner people accept that the better.

teensy overstatement there don't you think? ”
Well of course it is. I was exaggerating deliberately. But it’s the case as Naomi and others have stated that the govt has a delicate balancing act when you look at the different attitudes and at the conflict between reassuring some and not alienating others. The “killing granma” thing is definitely unhelpful exaggeration.

Did you read that Danny? When doing so did you see the use of the word "may"?
Even the scaremongerers can only come up with a handfull of alleged cases around the World. The rest of the 7.5 Bn seem fine.
Scare yourself silly if you want but please stay in and do it and dont expect others who need to earn a crust to pamper to you.
This can no longer be considered a big killer, and should never have been.

danny13, there is also this, apparently a particular kind of post viral syndrome, being called "Long Covid" https:/ /www.bm j.com/c ontent/ 370/bmj .m3489
Danny, we know what it ‘can’ do but the simple fact is that in the vast majority of cases it doesn’t. Your article cites one 20 year old in the USA who was severely affected by the virus. It also states that more than 3.8 million people worldwide have recovered and that the majority of COVID-19 deaths have occurred in people who are older, which we know. This hysteria really is utterly ridiculous.
ymb //and they look to me like you are afraid of Covid. How is that stupid?//
Because nowhere in my posts have I referred to myself as being scared of anything. How you interpret them is mistaken Also please read the
experiences of some who have 'recovered' from Covid19.

Survivors, danny, survivors. That's what you should be looking at.
Just give a moment's thought to people who are losing their jobs, and trying to provide for their families, sick with worry about how they're going to pay their mortgages and put meals on the table for their children. It's easy for people on a pension to say carry on with this nonsense - not so easy for those who don't have that comfortable security. I honestly think it's incredibly selfish.
