Telt is a dialect variation of the past tense of tell. It is in the dictionary but should not be used in writing.
Ooooh, that's me telt...

How do you think words are added to dictionaries if there's no written sources to support their inclusion?
We dinnae ken.
There are written sources showing it to be a dialect word, hence its inclusion in dictionaries. However, 'told' is the proper written form.
"but should not be used in writing."

"There are written sources showing it to be a dialect word"

Hmmmm...

There are written sources that prove there's an unwritten rule that it should not be written.

Or something.
Onywye...
The writing's on the wall, or it will be once those Mexicans build it and cough up for materials.
Aren't you from Corby though? Little Scotland. I used to work there.
Yes, I'm a Corby loon.
You'll know the difference between wee and wee then.
You telt away, Corby....I like it.... ;-)
// Mr Singh was found not guilty in August by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court. //

So yes, if he had been white, he would be a free man because a jury has said so.
Not to be pedantic, but “if you are trying to infer that Mr Singh got...”

should be

“if you are trying to IMPLY that Mr Singh got...”

Tricky old business, English, ain’t it?
scene in Wilt by Tom Sharpe
are you inferring I am an idiot?

No I have done that - I am implying you are an idiot

when our hero is arrested in front of the class of young butchers whom he is trying to teach English lit,
one shouts - dont tell em naaarfin
and he replies - dont tell them anything dont tell them anything

Mr Singh wasnt even charged with the deaths - his plea of self defence was accepted by the CPS

and I imagine that the jury considered possession of an offensive weapon and said to themselves - "nope definitely defensive - acquit"
Had he not been a Sikh he probably wouldn't have permission to be armed with a knife and so either dead or in hospital.
looks correct to me, it was clearly self defence.
A guy near where I lived just a few years ago, someone broke into his flat and attacked him, the guy fought back with a large kitchen knife and killed him after stabbing him nine times, most of the stabbings were in his back as he chased him out of his flat and into the garden. He still got away with self defence, even though the fatal stab wounds were administered while the lad was running away! I thought he would have gone to prison for sure!! He claimed self defence. Mitigating circumstances got him off the hook!
Sunk// Mr Singh was found not guilty in August by a jury at Snaresbrook Crown Court. //

So yes, if he had been white, he would be a free man because a jury has said so.

I think he would have been dead.
And if not dead now in prison for carrying a knife.

If Mr Singh took a knife of one of the attackers and killed them fair play but if he drew the knife from his person then the whole it's a 'religious' requirement bullcrap needs reviewing.
