Appears that these are an acceptable alternative to a lethal bladed weapon. They are sold by a Sikh concern so I imagine they realise the potential difficulties of these daggers being carried in some public places.

An interesting conversation here. It is quite clear that these Sikhs consider it their right to carry a steel blade to defend themselves or others as designated by their religious doctrine. Wood is not good enough to cause harm it would seem!

ooops. Forgot the link.

// I have an issue with anyone walking around with a weapon that can kill many others in seconds.
Why is this such a controversial position?//

because it is allowed by law - specifically - they didnt just forget .....

// a weapon that can kill many others in seconds.//
in 1915 (yup you read right) my leddy grandmother came from India to do war work. and was asked about going around London in such rough times - - she said - I always have my hat pin !
( er that is meant to be the weapon that can kill in seconds)
It's heresy for people to have paper, wood or plastic ones.

I cant find out the number of knife crime with a kirpan - it appears to be a bit like looking at a christian cross - and saying - blimey he can do a bit of damage with that !
Mr Singh got off lightly because of the Conspiracy between Sikhs and the British Government.

Obvious to all lacking in Gorm, innit.

Any chance of a link - apart from the one in your imagination?
for heaven's sake, andy, can't you recognise a joke any more?
jno, it's not a joke and you know it. It is the former alcoholic calling others gormless.

Why would anyone carry a paper knife when the law specifically allows them to wear a real one?

Silly me, fancy not knowing that the death of three men was a subject for humour.

That's the price I have to pay for discussing such issues on the News thread, where people are always ready to pop up with a side-splitting zinger.

Andy-Hughes (at least terry-thomas didn’t use caps) is rapidly disappearing into the mists of pomposity, harumphing as he goes.

Shame.

If failing to find viokent death a subject for levity in a serious discussion makes me pompous, I am happy to be so.

Any chance of a contribution to the debate, or are you just doing pointless rudeness this morning?
Harumph harumph.

Pointless rudeness sounds more like my current bubble-popping mood, but I’ll see how it goes.

Perhaps you can infer something?
I'm not one to frequently defend Andy, but I can only see rudeness coming from one direction here.

As someone who is front and centre when accusations of de-railing are being thrown around, what do you think this is?

Please don't bother to answer - it compounds your pointless de-railing again.
Mozz (“I can only see rudeness coming from one direction here”) - a) not rudeness, just taking the p***. b) all started because he couldn’t see a ‘joke’.

Go look up ‘banter’.
allen - Go look up 'de-railing'.
