//Do you believe in helping the needy, or do you think they should go to hell.//
I don’t believe anybody should “go to hell” (well, with one or two exceptions, perhaps!). But this is not a binary choice. The problem I have is that governments are unable to distinguish between the needy and the not so needy. The end result is that in order to provide for the (very few) needy vast sums are squandered on all the others, many of whom have made a lifestyle choice to live off the backs of taxpayers. Until that problem can be solved I’m afraid the needy will have to make do (which most of them could if they approached their circumstances properly).
People who live on benefits have to feed their children during school holidays. They are largely unaffected by the Covid crisis so I see no reason why they should receive additional funds outside term time.
//…but a handful of chips and a couple of sausages!//
Children should not live on a handful of chips and a couple of sausages. Their parents should ensure more wholesome (and usually cheaper) food is provided for them, viz: //i dont really understand why it seems to be 15 ppw. I could and do! spend much less than that on 7 lunches for my daughter//
