the power of the chattering public mamyalynne....who cannot mind their own business....as I said before - an element of pressure on the family.
Possibly, but if it helps just one family feel a little less alone then it's done no harm.
teacake - well that was my experience when my mother got it some 40 years ago. My dad was hiding it from everybody, even me, and people still talk about it in hushed voices.
I say this with no malice aforethought, but I cannot understand why ABers search the net and provide links that are so specialised that only a few people read and even fewer understand.
One sees this more and more on AB in almost all the categories.

Sqad, I did not search the net.A Daily Mail news flash came up on my screen.
Danny..I didn't see your post and even if I had,I was making a general comment rather than a specific post.
I think this is the chap that me dad always said he could 'leather it!'
He means me Danny, he's fed up because the fights haven't started yet.

lol Lynne :-)
It may be preferable for the public to know...as with other illnesses not easily discussed. It also serves to answer queries and speculation about a persons behaviour. Better that than the rumour mill that is the media.
bhg, Yes but that was 40 yrs ago, lots of illnesses were hidden then.
Danny.. what's funny, I did mean mamya's link...download it and read it......tell me how did that help?
But I am not just picking on mamya.....many contributers do it and it is just confusing for me to understand it.
Perhaps I am developing dementia lol
lol.. pasta does it as well.
I'm sure most of a certain age have experienced this phenomenon. I vividly recall then brain conditions such as dementia were lumped together with mental illness and known simply as "nerves". People would say things like "it's his nerves" or "he's bad with his nerves".

There's much better understanding, and far less prejudice, surrounding such things these days, but a certain amount still remains.
teacake - yes, and it's famous people coming out into the open about them that has made them more normal.
Sorry sqad. I'm just curious...and then I love to spread my newfound knowledge. ;))
But we don't need anymore famous people coming out with it anymore, its a well know illness that affects thousands more than it did 40 yrs ago.
Lol.....you just concentrate on looking attractive and let me do the thinking.
If you're not honest about problems people make up their own stories and idiots believe them.
Ignore the stories, and the idiots, only close family need to know the truth.
