I think so. Having been told "the very last ever" grants for self-employed people would go up to October (?) this year.... I looked at the government website yesterday, and they are offering two more. Nov-Jan and Feb-April, although you can't apply until the end of the month. When the government offers money up until April next year.... you have to wonder what their plans are.
There’s little hints popping up all over the place - new technology being used to count shoppers in Asda and a queuing in your car system is being introduced, sixth form college is switching to a block system so less kids are in college and they go in less often - why would they bother if it’s just for four weeks? That’s just the ones I noticed yesterday evening.

Indeed Pixie
The current lockdown is legally required to end on 2nd December, and can only be extended with Parliament's express permission in a future vote. So we don't know. But it probably will have to be, sadly.

Common sense to most people that 4 weeks is not going to bring down numbers that much, or anywhere near controllable.

Sorry just seen your Sherr, my grandson has stayed on to 6th form and finishes at really odd times through the day
The Govt keep dropping hints as to their next move. Last week it was exponentially high infection rates which then became Lockdown 2.0. This is another such 'hint'.
I think they are prepping for it, I can't see how they can determine the effects of a 4 week lock down in 4 weeks.

That's infuriating then Zac, they should stop playing cat and mouse here and come out and tell us
PM's Questions yesterday Boris said the lockdown would end on Dec 2nd with areas reverting to the Tier system if necessary
Boris said many things over the last 8/9 months. Do I take any notice..
Germany's ‘Kurzarbeit’ system is to last to last until the end of 2021

Before the pandemic the Government would cover 60 per cent of an employee’s lost salary (67 per cent if you have kinder) but that has now risen to 80 per cent.

I think they have to prep for it. One of the problems that they had at the beginning and end of lockdown 1 was that arrangements weren't ready. lesson learned.
danny, what were his actual words? Did he say "the plan is" "we hope to" or any other qualifier?
My pure guess is, lockdown now, relaxed for Christmas and back to lockdown.
I can't remember Johnson's actual words, but as a matter of law, the current lockdown will end on 2nd December unless and until Parliament votes otherwise.
Borris said he would return England to teir's but sa think most areas will be teir 3 maybe a few teir 2 and some a teir 4 so its right to have a better finance support.
Woofie, can't remember exact words but he said that the lockdown will end on 2nd December.
As jim says it will end on 2nd, however a new one could be put in place but they would have to be very careful with the numbers they give out after last time.
Of course it does.
My prediction:
Dec2..hospital admissions either stable or reduced, deaths still high, non Covid NHS hospital facilities struggling in the North but coping in the South.
Boris goes for a further extension, but voted out by Parliament in response to emotional pleading by the electorate of:

" I need to be with grandma and grandad "
" the family is always together at Christmas "
" Chistmas is a laff innit and we get p issued."

Need I go on ?
Into the first week of the New Year....admissions, deaths will all rise awaiting a 3rd Lockdown at Easter.
I hope that I am wrong, but have little faith in the British idea of compliance.
