If the ministerial code is broken how serious should the consequences be in this case?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55010929

The code says "harassing, bullying or other inappropriate or discriminating behaviour" will not be tolerated.

It adds that ministers are "personally responsible" for how they act - and that they can stay in office "for so long as they retain the confidence of the prime minister".

Corby //If her actions were justified, why has the PM not made a decision before to-day?//
How do you know that he hasnHe probably has but has not made a public announcement yet.
If a decision has been made, why keep it a secret?

"Good for her. Way better than May ever was"

Thats ok then is it?!
A lot of people seem very au fait with the circumstances of the bullying :-‘
Corby //why keep it a secret?//
Not secret, just not in the pulic domain.Must the PM make a public announcement about every decision he makes.I think not.

It seems likely that Boris will issue her with a written warning...
"Must the PM make a public announcement about every decision he makes."

No but considering she is the Home Secretary and not a minor civil servant, would you not consider the accusation of bullying a serious matter?

Considering the publicity it had and the effect upon her reputation, surely the public, full support of the PM would have been beneficial?
//would you not consider the accusation of bullying a serious matter? //

It's been taken seriously. It's been the subject of an official inquiry.
He should give her a dressing down and warn that whilst her enthusiasm to try to get things done is appreciated she may not remain in position if she doesn't improve her ability to bring folk with her rather than bully them into it, in future.
Bullying accusations have followed Priti Patel around for years. Civil Servants are of course subservient to their Ministers, but that doesn't mean that they can be bullied, or that they're obliged to put up with such inappropriate behaviour. It's frankly shameful that it's tolerated or even being actively encouraged and praised.

Apparently, Johnson has backed Patel, and his adviser on appropriate Ministerial behaviour has resigned. That should speak volumes: Patel is being protected for political reasons, and basic standards of decent behaviour are being ignored.
As I said above: Johnson will protect and cover for his ministers regardless.
I suspect we’ve not heard the last of this with the resignation of Sir Alex Allen.
I fink the prime minister said
'is it true that you called the mandarins a lazy load of winkers'
and she said - - yes
and he said well done

the celestial mandarin who has gone will claim constructive dismissal

[note for AB proles: the alphas at the ministries who flunk are called mandarins]
JIm - there are few placemen and time servers in your ivory tower that you would like to say (to)
"retire for chrissakes for all the good you are doing! just get ardda here!"
and you havent
and she did

Disgraceful, particularly her weasel apology "that my behaviour in the past has upset people", not that her behaviour was wrong but that it upset people. I'm not surprised the author of the report has resigned.
Kier would of sacked her if he was in Borris;s shoes. Borris should have done so but a guessed he wouldnt.
My concern is for Larry, he must be feeling really insecure living there watching people being thrown out the front door.
She cannot admit that her behaviour was wrong because then she would have to go: no minister judged as she has been has ever resigned. Both she and the PM are effectively calling Sir Alex A’s judgment wrong. No wonder he has resigned instead.
No minister judged as she has been has ever NOT resigned or been sacked I meant to say
Larry must be even more stressed now, those high heels in and out of no 10 are a hazard to his paws.
drmorgans, yes, it's a very Tony Blair apology - "I'm sorry everyone has taken everything I did in entirely the wrong way".

But that's only wrong when Blair does it.
