The code says "harassing, bullying or other inappropriate or discriminating behaviour" will not be tolerated.

It adds that ministers are "personally responsible" for how they act - and that they can stay in office "for so long as they retain the confidence of the prime minister".

It's easy to scoff when we are unaware of exactly what has gone on, but I know from a lifetime of experience in offices that bullying is very real, and it can affect anyone at any level, even the seemingly 'tough' personalities can be bullied by someone senior with an axe to grind.

I think it's wrong to jump to the conclusion that the recipient of bullying must automatically be simply too weak to stand up for themselves - it's rarely that simple.

shouting and swearing at employees is a sign of incompetent leadership (no surprise here) and can lead to claims for constructive dismissal, though I don't suppose Boris would have any qualms about paying off victims - he's always been a great one for wasting other people's money.

It wouldn't bother me either, but that is a one-dimensional view of what bullying is.

I am no-one's shrinking violet I am sure you would agree, but in my time at work, I have experienced bullying sufficient to make a Grievence to get it stopped.

It was not 'shouting and swearing', it was daily insidious drip-drip-drip of undermining, confidence-draining self-esteem chipping sniping and criticsm by a manager with considerable power over my work environment and my career prospects.

It doesn't have to be overt confrontation in order to be bullying, and you don;t need to be a 'snowflake' to be affected.

Assuming simple stereotype situations is to miss the reality of what might have gone on - none of us know, but it is unlikely to have been limited to the odd hissy fit and a bit of inapproprioate language.

The civil serpants at the Home Office are made up mainly of Remainiacs and were, still are, in thrall to Brussels. They were anti Patel before she even got the job and apoplectic when she did. It has just been another manifestation of the malice maintained by the hate filled losers of the Referendum. Bet one thing though. Had Patel been a member of a different sort of Asian group they would not have dared to malign and plot against her. That would be a hate crime I warrant. When she insisted that they did their jobs without reporting back to the EUSSR at every opportunity they spat the dummies out. She should have sacked the lot. Don't even know why we needed them when all policy was decided behind closed doors in Brussels anyway. We should be starting with a nice, clean, shiny, uncorrupted set of office tools.
