No he isn't. He is a wannabe dictator. Thankfully his coup attempt is incompetent. He won't even come off the golf course to try and organise it properly.
There are lessons to be learned from the fiasco though. They need to look at the whole democratic process, the handover period, so much power invested in one person. It all relies on people behaving rationally, within the rules, and having a moral compass. When you get someone there that doesn't, it all starts looking very fragile.

// Of course there’s a comparison. The result of any democratic vote should be respected.//
then the vote to elect Biden has to be respected - ter daah !
or are we gonna have another morning of the usual suspects pouting and insisting they never said the opposite
squealing - screaming - hollering whatever usual suspects do

I think they can put the whole thing down to aberration
unless someone comes along and says - "I am gonna do the whole thing again!"
I mean I dont think there will be a repeat of - "no toys to the president elect - because he isnt going to be president - I am!"
I mean - why didnt the flunkies flunk? as in "Mr President ( trump) I didnt work on your plan " five more glorious years of Trump and beyond" because I was seeing to the president elect"
trump: that will be me!
no mr president ....

PP, // then the vote to elect Biden has to be respected - ter daah !//
It does indeed. (Why are you ter daahing? Has reality suddenly struck?).

Who knows? Best you ask the 'usual suspects' what their intentions are.

Ichkeria, "Do you think that Trump's refusal to acknowldege the result in the form of a concession is damaging to US democracy? "
It won't affect the outcome. so no - but I think it’s damaging to Trump.
It won't affect the outcome of the election, but don't you worry that it might shake people's confidence in the democratic system?
Trump has been going on about dark conspiracies since even before the last presidential election. This would be a good thing were there a shred of evidence to back it up, but apparently there is not.

If you're talking to me, no. The people of the US ought to be aware that it’s not the first time allegations of foul play have been made during US elections - and that those who spin will spin regardless.

Never have those allegations been given more weight than this year. Trump isn't the only Republican to have made the suggestion, for a start. Many other Republicans haven't said anything at all, and silence can be often taken as implicit agreement (rightly or wrongly). And, given that 74 million people voted for him, there are clearly a lot of Americans who still take seriously what he says, or at least are willing to tolerate it.
Let's hope you are right and it is a mere blip, but it is still important not just to say that Trump is wrong but to condemn him loudly for making these baseless allegations.

Why are people so desperate to defend and downplay Donald Trump and his despicable behaviour? What has he done to deserve such unthinking support?
If the Democrats won by fraud and managed to magically zap all evidence of it ever happening (how convenient), why didn't they take congress? Why didn't they bother doing it in florida or texas? Were they taking a holiday?
The desperation of the Trumpists would be funny if it were not so unprincipled, undignified, and undemocratic. Thousands of Americans - armed with guns - have been convinced that the election was stolen as a result of Trump's actions. That cannot be healthy for a democracy. It's a "November criminals" style myth and it has been created on purpose.

You must recognise that allegations at this level and on this scale are unique in history. Even 2000 is no precedent, despite the pretence of Khandro's propagandist article: that was a dispute over a couple of hundred votes in one state, and Trump is trying to dispute tens of thousands of votes across multiple states.
There is no precedent for this behaviour in American history, and it shames the office, and it shames those who seek to defend or excuse it.

This is the worst thing about it. The fact that so many Republicans are still failing to condemn this nonsense, even at this stage. I'm talking about the ones in authority who should know better, not the gullible hordes of the Trump cult.

// ..but I'll leave it there. I can't be bothered with verbal Jimnastics today.//
how strange ! anyway as far as I discern - it is the first time easily the allegations have led to court cases. - 2000 the hanging chad case (*) Bush v Gore was not alleging malice. The machines had punched holes less cleanly - now not used
Supreme court cried enough ! on the grounds that some counties were counting votes differently t others.
