A Survey commisioned by Channel 4 News, says the Cons would now lose almost all of the Northern seats they gained in 2019, if the there was a snap election now . And will certainly lose them at the next scheduled election. Wonder what went wrong then ?.

Actually I think Gully has a point on this. Unless the 1922 get their backsides into gear and Johnson is removed I really do think there could be a swing in some constituencies, not necessarily to labour though
They won’t vote Labour if they think Labour is doing a “good job” which after all would be tricky if you’re not in government.
They’ll do it if they think the party in power is doing a bad job.
That’s usually what happens anyway
where then if not Labour...

Was about to say what are you on Danny, then I realised Danny can talk gobbledygook without any help.
Johnson is a frightful charlatan. I’d be less concerned about a Tory election win if he and his cohorts were sent back, like Jeremy Corbyn and HIS cohorts, to the back benches
ok if they think that the tories are doing a bad job. The fact is Labour hasn't had a good leader for years., and has been tainted to a large extent with the Corbyn era. SKS doesn't seem all the effective but come the next election that could all change

14.25 Jack , You are now on Dannys official hit list .
"A Survey commisioned by Channel 4 News, says the Cons would now lose almost all of the Northern seats they gained in 2019, if the there was a snap election now " - I can only see one flaw, there wont be an election for at least 3 years!
Danny is one of the more sensible people on AB. Good on crosswords, puzzles and sundry topics that are of interest.

"Our Survey Said " Cons get out of the North.
webbo "A survey of how many people ? " - I suspect it was all the people in gulliver's village.
doesn;t he live abroad, where he doesn't get a vote.. or so someone on AB seems to think..
Emmie, it was Gulliver who said he lived abroad although he won't admit to where that is.
doesn't matter what the Tories do, real Labour cannot win anyway.
I think a large aspect of the massive swing to the Conservatives, was the sheer awfulness of contemplating a government led my someone as out of touch with reality as Jeremy Corbyn.

It was less a case of wanting the Tories so much, as abjectly not wanting Labour - a similar situation got Trump elected.

But people have sort memories, and the disaster of Covid will not be an effective rod to beat Johnson with next time round, so we will see how he performs in all the other areas between now and then.

Think the Northern Counties had enough harm done to them when TNL was in power .
Well in that case you know where they 'could' vote.

As has been pointed out many simply 'lent' thier votes and will return to voting for a donkey with a red rosette if that is what is on offer.
Yet she still won three elections, strange that it couldn't have all been London based, as most of those especially now vote Labour or so it seems
