Ooops sorry.

Oh dear, I did a search for Peter Alliss and nothing came up, also looked in news and nothing appeared. I can only apologise.
Sad news indeed.I used to like is programme “a round with Alliss”.Used to play a few holes and chat with celebrities.I have seldom seen anyone strike a golf ball so sweetly.
I saw Peter Alliss play an exhibition game at North Manchester Golf Club in 1958. He was accompanied by Dai Rees, Christie O'Connor and Peter Butler, just after they had won back The Ryder Cup for GB & Ireland. A great memory. In later years, he wrote in a book that the 16th hole at our course (not North Mcr) was one of the most scenic he had played, but in my opinion he was guilding the lily a bit as we are only 4 miles from Manchester City Centre! I think he must have taken a bung off someone to write that. He was commentating on the Masters only a few weeks ago. For all his talent, he never won a major, which many people attributed to him having "the yips". For non-golfers, that means he trembled like jelly when faced with a short putt, which he missed frequently. But he'll be missed by all golfing fans, that's for sure. He was the second Henry Longhurst. RIP.
I think he developed the yips later in his career. There was a story told that he played Lee Trevino in a Ryder Cup single at St.Andrew’s I think.,apparently hE looked at Trevino over a short putt on the first and he gave it him.As they walked down the second a Scotsman said to Trevino why did you give him that he’s hopeless on short ones.Soon after this the situation arose Alliss looked and Trevino was unmoved, needless to say he missed.
1969 at St Andrew’s Trevino won 2 and 1z.That was in the morning singles in the afternoon was the famous concession by Jack Nicklaus to give Tony Jacklin a half.
