It'll take a year to vaccinate the country, right oh? from the same people that said it would take at least 2 years to have a vaccine ready to go! I reckon we'll be all done by Easter.

65 million people in the UK. A million a week is well over a year.
i don't reckon we will be done by easter at all. How many live in UK, two doses each isn't it. What do we do with those that are scared of having it, or refuse point blank to have it, there could be thousand...
Its never easy to predict how long it will take to develop a vaccinne. Two years was a fair bet and faster than usual for new vaccinnes.
We dont have enough Fizer for evetone and Moderna isnt ready to buy yet so we need the Oxford vax to come on stream. We may have done 30% by spring but there are going to be problems with peopel missing the second dose at the right time, getting it out to smaller care homes and to the housebound. And of course about 20% of peopel will delay until summer at earlyest till they seen the effects on others. And another 20% will refuse alltogether or will be untracable
if its done in a year i would say that would be a miracle
For the vaccinations to be done by Easter would be a big challenge.
For it to be done by Easter in the midst of a surge in infections would be an impossibility
We'll probably have Sputnik 5 too by the look of it - which may well largely have been stolen from Oxford anyway :-)
just not possible to get it done by Easter too many variables.
Is it oven ready then, Tora?
We listen because we have no other option. That's what we're being bombarded with.

I saw a stat that vaccinating the 800,000 most vulnerable would reduce deaths by a third. The next 2 million, another third. So the strategy of vaccinating the most vulnerable should have an impact in 3 months or so.

yes a lot of people but every doctors surgery every hospital, some talk of massive vaccination centres run by the army etc, possibly other places stadiums etc. I got a text from my docs last week telling me to anticipate being called in. It's in everybody's interest to get it done and I think we will.
i still reckon it can't be done by Easter.
what about those that are housbound, those that can't get to stadiums, is the army going to be controlling this.
Question Author
also you don't need 100% for the virus to be stopped, 70% will achieve herd immunity then we can get back to normal while we mop up the rest and deal with the tin hat brigade etc.
Question Author
emmie, I'm not talking about 100% just enough to get back to normal.
and as been posted the virus mutates, this vaccine may not be effective then.
Question Author
gawd emmie, is your glass always half empty?
sqad asked the question and i posted the link. Just saying that i don;t firmly believe that this rollout will happen in the next three months, its just not logistically possible. Whilst we are about it, what about all the people coming into the UK< how do we know they have had the vaccine, there is no way of knowing.
Question Author
10:26, are they not testing at the airports even now?
