Rome had announced a fireworks ban ahead of New Year's Eve as a means of keeping citizens, animals and the city's archaeological heritage safe, but the ban was largely ignored.
You think a ban or licence will stop people getting fireworks? Its relatively easy to get the illegal ones anyway, you will just drive it all underground and then safety is compromised.
Remember, every action has other reactions and unintended consequences.
Whilst I don’t dispute there are some dead birds in Paris, I am puzzled why we have only just found out that this can happen? I do not recall stories of thousands of dead birds in Paris last year, or the year before, or ever.
We have had fireworks for thousands of years, but only just realised that they scare the little birdies to death?
Seems a bit odd.
Where are all the dead pigeons in London after the massive firework display every new year? As the link clearly states - nobody knows the cause of these birds deaths, yet.
rather a strange story, isn't it? Huge fireworks displays all round the world on Dec 31 - though a lot less this year - and yet I've never seen dead birds piled up round a single railway station before. Did anything special happen at this station to cause it?
I remain sceptical about this, though I have no alternative explanation.
do people care about the thousands upon thousands of birds who die because of peoples pet cats, every year, or the millions of animals who die on the roads each year, one can care of course, but doing something about it, ?
