I have signed the above petition in the past and whilst I love to watch a well organised display I would lose no sleep if they were banned.
I am intrigued however, does this phenomenon happen every year in places when large displays happen?
The last time I personally saw anything remotely similar it was as a result of poisoning.

Whilst I don’t dispute there are some dead birds in Paris, I am puzzled why we have only just found out that this can happen? I do not recall stories of thousands of dead birds in Paris last year, or the year before, or ever.
We have had fireworks for thousands of years, but only just realised that they scare the little birdies to death?
Seems a bit odd.

rather a strange story, isn't it? Huge fireworks displays all round the world on Dec 31 - though a lot less this year - and yet I've never seen dead birds piled up round a single railway station before. Did anything special happen at this station to cause it?
I remain sceptical about this, though I have no alternative explanation.
