Untitled... referring to your "gender" is like referring to your character. It's not something that has relevance except to you and those around you.
We have only ever needed to know "sex" and that is where the harm has come in, by confusing the two. Sports, safe spaces, medical treatments, harassment, people having life-changing operations to make them sterile and so on.
Maybe if we started using the words transman and transwoman the right way round, it might cause less disruption, offence, confusion...

To be honest though. Do people really care? It's causing no harm to anyone if the person is a nice law abiding citizen.

When I was a kid I dressed in jeans, tshirt, trainers....the same as the boys. But heaven forbid a boy puts a dress on....

They're already used the right way round. "Trans" as a prefix tends to mean "across/into another state"; it would make no sense for a transperson to be labelled trans, followed by what they "were", so to speak. Even more so as it's now recognised as transgender rather than transsexual.

Ummmm, I think you're well off the target with that. I've seen TTT have similar reactions to British Trans and non-gender types.

Apparently they do, though, ummm. Is there any reason why a man shouldn't be able to wear a dress, make-up, wig, high heels... and still be able to use his own public toilet without being abused, harassed or beaten up?
Jim, I don't think they are and I'm surprised even transpeople accept it. A transwoman is a woman who is transgender (so technically would prefer he/she). So not only does it mean the opposite of what they would like... it seems to confuse everyone else as well.
At least if they were used the other way round, it would be clear biologically too. It's what they do in Iceland... and they are doing far better with this than we are.

It had to be to justify its existence as sex was identifiable bio scientifically but gender hasn't............at the moment.

I believe if we let our kids be who they want it solves a lot of the issues.

It's funny now but my youngest son used to wear clothes pegs in his hair. I didn't care, he was happy. I got a few funny looks in the supermarket but it wasn't my kid having a hissy fit, he was too busy rearranging his pegs :-)

There are lots of reasons it was changed -- I'm not sure that in itself is one of them, although maybe it's part of it. But mainly it's to recognise that someone can transition without needing to go through any surgical procedures.

I'm not sure there's either been confusion about the meaning of "trans woman" (ie, a woman who was assigned male at birth) and vice versa.

Sqad, they still have different meanings, for different reasons. Even then, transsexuals know they haven't literally changed sex, but that is usually more dysmorphia. The whole transgender movement itself is not the same.

I disagree, Jim... there are many people who believe transgender means you have changed sex.
I'm sure you've seen, for instance (and I hope so, as I'm not sure how quickly it was buried).... the number of nurses complaining that they were being forced to do smear tests on men? Not only no cervix, and abuse of the nurses, but a total waste of NHS resources.

Binary means consisting of two parts or components, twofold, so non-binary must mean consisting of one part (or more than 2).
Unnecessary use of words, it's like saying "I'm not a twin" - one assumes everyone isn't a twin, unless they say so.
