The headlines today are "Borders Closed to Shut out new strains" (of Covid)- the question is do we have an effective Border Force to repel illegal entrants, when we have 15,000 illegal immigrants a year attempting to smuggle themselves into the UK?

I don't book holidays far in advance so no holidays booked or cancelled here.

But as I said on another thread, my OH hasn't seen his parents in over 18 months. When restrictions are lifted the first thing we'll do is book flights to Ireland. I don't see that as selfish, I also don't consider it a holiday, it's just, to us, going home.

Last time I was at a UK airport I went through customs in no time . But the non E/U queue was horrendous. I can remember thinking to myself, than god I am a E/U Citizen and not in that queue.

I book a year ahead - sometimes more if flights are published. I'm choosy about where I go and what accommodation I have. The sort I like is in short supply so I book early to avoid disappointment. Mty most recent cancellation (due to fly middle of Feb) was booked in Feb last year. I have a holiday in June booked last June and one in October booked last August.

I didn't say they did. I used it to illustrate that homeless people go to the front of he queue. People arriving in rubber boats are homeless - ergo people arriving in rubber boats go to the front of the queue.

Where does your figure of 15,000 come from?
I read an article earlier that placed it at about 8,500 last year.
Or is it attempted vs arrived?
Just curious.
