Yes, we have to have optimism Fender, we have to hope
Yes. We have to. Not sure exactly when.... but of course we will.
Aye, once the vaccines have their effect the next hardest thing will be getting our leaders to get their boot off our collective neck.

The power trip they're on at the minute is what they live for and won't be given up easily.
Because I have family and friends in the UK I really do hope so.
But I doubt it.

I don't see much pulling together now and the desire to find ways of damaging the attempts to control the virus doesn't bode well for a new normal.
We have to be optimistic. Pessimism does noone any good. But it's going to be very difficult for a good few years and things will change. I don't think many of us older folk will be around when things get back to where they were before.
I have no doubt at all that there will be a successful new kind of normal.

gness, most people are pulling together, just idiot news rags say the other for headlines, prophets of doom.. i see daffodils soon.
I didn't mean that to sound so gloomy. It will get better for all of us but I think the economy will take years to recover and that will be hard for younger people.
I hope that the world has learnt something from Covid. A kinder world perhaps with less materialism.

Apc2604, i agree years..but new places will open, and the way the eu is at the moment, britain will pickup faster.. people or business's will see how well we have done over this, vaccine etc..and with that build in britain etc ie jobs investments.
I am not optimistic about the future. I see too much of a selfish attitude and too many breaking the rules, constantly.
The virus is something we will have to live with and will get peaks and troughs with new variants.
Too many people not wanting the vaccines and the toll on mental health for many is immeasurable and the nhs will take 20 years to catch up with routine operations, if it ever can.
So no I am not.
Of course we will, Britain is great and thank god we left the EU!
The economy shouldn’t take as long to pick up as for example after the crash of 2008.

These things always work out in the end.

ichkeria, thank you...glass half full, i have faith.
Of course. There will be a big bounce.
Assuming nothing else happens out of the blue.
I’d worry a bit about how long travel may take to get back to “normal”
That will be the last thing to go I’d say.
Why is the Ed (or the Ed's junior) bothered about 'no politics' in chatterbank but appears to have no concerns about the constant natter and nonsense in news?

Most news threads are now opinion pieces.
Optimistic that we will make a great effort to adjust to the new, ''normal.''
But some measures needed to ensure that the multi billionaires and millionaires are subjected to appropriation of their vast wealth in the interests of the nation.
The days of profiteering should be dispatched to the dustbin of history.
Roy @ 19:51 - The new normal!is to curtail free speech - everywhere.
